I've always been a fan of Mario games, but I've never seen anything like this before.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Review Gameplay: The gameplay can be very strange at first, but rewards you for memorization of moves and enemy tactics. It requires a lot of precise timing button pressing. The deal is the in and out of combat all of Mario’s actions are controlled with the A button, Vice Versa. When I say all, I mean all! Options, selections, jumping, all controlled with the brothers respective buttons. Like I said it gets kind of confusing at first. The combat can be very fun and plays like a regular turn-based RPG, but with a fresh twist. Things get really interesting when using Bros. attacks which are combined attacks where the Bros. team up. Graphics: The game really shines and shows off great character designs and levels. The levels themselves are of course, varied and show of the new Bean Bean kingdom Mario has inadvertently found. While some areas feel like standard Mario, others are very imaginative and are a treat to explore. The characters are a mix of classic Mario characters (koopas, etc.) and the many inhabitants of the Bean Bean Kingdom. The weird thing is that some character designs don't really feel very "Mario" like. The animations are fluid and (unlike the character designs) do feel very, very Mario. Sound: The sound is really the only downside IF that’s what you want to call it. The classic Mario music has been "remixed" and puts the GBA's synthesizer to good use. We have heard it all before though Mario and Luigi have their respective yelps and grunts. It’s really just kind of unspectacular. Value: The single player is obviously the main focus here, and it will take up most of your time. There is multiplayer, but it’s just the same Mario Bros. game found in every other Mario game on the GBA. Unfortunate but it’s the single player you should be buying it for anyway. Overview: All in all Mario & Luigi is a fun, quirky game, thought don’t let its first impressions fool you this game shouldn't be missed by anyone, especially anyone who enjoys Mario games.
