Major League Baseball 2K5 was not ready for store shelves as it is full of glitches. Even in the opening video there is a glitch. The game is bound to glitch up on you. You cannot play nine innings without a glitch! I would say that you are going to have 3 to 4 glitches a game. As they say, you get what you pay for. This is the cheapest baseball game, but it is the worst one of the bunch as it is full of glitches. Lets take a look at what is superfluous in the game. On Command Base running - Own the base paths by taking complete control of any base runner with active picture-in-picture base running and utilize Maximum Sliding to hit the dirt utilizing multiple slide types with the flip of your right analog stick. Maximum Fielding – Intuitive right analog stick controls make for big defensive plays. With the all new diving catches, wall climbs, and double plays makes it fun to play defense. This is like the hit stick in Madden 05. K Zone – K Zone gives you pinpoint control of every pitch that is thrown. Combined with a new batting interface for better control of your swings. Franchise – This is one of the best franchise modes that I have played in any sports game. You start off by picking a team. You can have MLB rosters or do a mock draft. Then you are put in charge of a team as manager. Everything from payroll to scouting miner league players is put in your hands. If they do it in the majors, chances are that you can do it in this game. Presented by ESPN – New broadcast camera angles, chase cam, GameCast Live, and commentary featuring Jon Miller and Joe Morgan. Karl Rayech gives you analysis from in studio. The Skybox – As you play games you are reworded tokens. You take the tokens to the Skybox and you can unlock classic teams, mini games, cheats, and more. Online Leagues – You can now start a league online and play with your friends. You still have all the other geodes from 2k4. Homerun Derby – There are four playable modes that are played in split screen. When you have friends over you both can hit at the same time. There is no more waiting for your turn. In Standard mode, you try to hit the most homers in a time period. You will have to watch your stamina meter as it drains after every power swing. You may have to let some pitches go by to get your meter back up. In Score mode you try to get the most points. Points are based on how far you hit it, where you hit it, and consecutive homers. If you call the shot in Score mode you get a bonus, but if you can the shout and do not get it then you lose points. Tag Team mode is three vs. three. Each batter has a health meter and when you hit a homerun, the opponent batter will lose health. Team mode is one major league team against another. To win every batter in the lineup must hit a homerun. All modes can be played online. In Your Face – This is baseball with a twist. You are given game day challenges at the beginning of every game. If you achieve a challenge, then at the end of every inning you can choose to lockout certain abilities of the opposing team. This can include locking out a pitch, stealing, bunting, power hitting, contact hitting, wall-climbing, and substations. This would be the best baseball of 05 if it was not for the glitches!
