Well-designed video game that gives a nice refereshing touch of the famous card game to newbies and veterans alike!

Since Spells of the Ancients back in 1997, this is the next best digital rendition of my lifetime hobby - Magic: The Gathering. There are many free fanmade shareware-type pc games that recreates the tabletop MTG with very good scripting and card variety but ultimately lacks an interactive enjoyment of both sight and sound. Magic 2014 is immersive by roping the player into the world of Magic through a fave character among recent Magic fans - Chandra. With a few slick cinematics and a befitting soundtrack, it is a pretty nice game to get involved with over the weekend.

The tutorial's learning curve is great for newcomers and the main game is totally manageable straight away by veterans of the card game. The unlockable features are very effective in hooking players (that's me) but then I've spent enough on the real cards to spend any more credits in the digital version, heh. Alas, I would really love to see a revamped Shandalar modeling from the 1997 version (I think only a pocketful of fans would know what I'm talking about).

While the single-player campaign is rather short, the price tag justifies it. However, since I got it at less than 5 bucks at the Steam holiday sale, it probably made me feel a little more liberal in my positive review here.
