We get the latest on Mafia II straight from Denby Grace, the game's producer.
This game looks great, but why do they always put loud music in the interviews so its hard to hear the guy.
deberia haber una pagina de Gamespot en espaņol :S
@Bioshockraptor - all respect to Godfather movies but godfather games cannot be compared to Mafia(1) game.Story from Mafia game was more thrilling for me then any "wiseguys" movie and i got to play main role in it :)
The original game was truly ahead of its time. Is soo good that it can rival some of the today's games. The handling model was awesome, you felt the wheels griping the surface not gliding over it like in some games.
I have lots of respect for developers that are prepared to delay and get things right rather than rushing out a bug filled heap of crap just to cash in.
There seems to be strip clubs and hookers in this game, leave those to rockstar. I think they've shown they can do those the best ;)
looks goooddd...
finally a release date! cant wait to see how it surpasses the original
Mann.... first part of this game blew my mind away... specially the car engine... and this sequel is awesome... with awesome graphics... I am gonna love it...
GOTY yeah!
The original was outstanding, this sequel is perfect.
About time,I've been waiting for this game for like ever! The more I waited the more I played Mafia 1 again and again and again. I guess by now I've finished it about 31 times and that is excluding the free ride and other stuff. I guess this establishes my anticipation for the game.
forget wat i said i want this badly waaaaaaa
i want this but not a lott
nice game
@shawcross so polished i can see my face in it
They have made this game look so good. Its so polished
I loved The Godfather and if it's anything like that, I'm getting it.
will grow my stuff, till the game comes out :D, then puf puf n play the mafia :)
Great game, Mafia was one of the best games i ever played! and this loks like better than the first! waiting... ... ...
Sounds great, keep it up.

Sounds cool.
sweet
This guy need's to lay off the coffee
MP40 at 2:50!! Let's just hope it has co-op... they sure are holding it back long enough to develop it...
I want this game :)
Ok this and L.A. noire seem to be on a crash course (in theme not gameplay)
bravo
@uberjannie even the first godfather was an idiotic game...... (for all the people comparing mafia to gta: STOP!!! don't u get it? the companies that make these games are owned by the same mother company....so they share things.....there are restrictions for both games because of the contracts take2 decided....and btw.....i think mafia 2 has the same engine as gtaIV.....or at least it's very similar!)
This will be shadowed by L.A. Noire, just you wait and see...
The graphics engine is not new - but I hope the gameplay will be good (something new from the first Mafia) and the game runs smoothly (I don't want an Xbox port to PC). That is, if they want my $50+ for it.
looks better than another certain "mafia" game (GTA IV)
@zanelli. In the clip you can see the Chrysler Building and the Empire State building, so, it's obviously New York City... In earlier interviews (mid-2009) there was indeed talks of the locale being called 'Empire Bay'. Maybe they just borrowed a couple of buildings from downtown Manhattan then... I'm from Belgium, by the way ;)

@JimmyJumpy It's a strange I have an old interview somewhere that says about the reasons behind using the fictional city Lost Heaven and that the buildings and areas are taken from places across America. I of course can only speculate on what they've said as I live in the UK, but it would seem like a step away from the Mafia world to set a game in a real city. EDIT: Sorry I should have Googled it before, the new city in Mafia 2 is fictional it's called Empire Bay.
I want this game .
Mafia was a verry exciting game ... This one will be way over the first version and i hope it will have the same exciting storyline ! I can't speak of the gameplay because , as i saw from this movie , it will be way over the first game 8->
I want this baby :)
I didn`t play Mafia 1, but this looks very interesting.
I'm really excited about this game. Graphically beautiful. Really am looking forward to seeing how the backdrop (the changes in era/weather) will influence the game play. I'll be tracking this one!
Vito. Vito Vito Vito! They named the main character Vito?! Cool, I guess.
Well... I hope the next GTA is vastly improved, this looks a lot better than GTA 4, lot more polished, and a lot more fun.
@zanelli: game is set in New York City (Noo Yoik for the locals). Lost Heaven was a bit of a blueprint of the NYC environment; it even had a district called Hoboken (which in reality is across the Hudson in New Jersey, facing Battery Park/Greenwich Village/Chelsea Piers)...
i've always loved mafia games but never got to buying one, hopefully this one i will get =]
mute the volume at around 3:20 if you want to avoid spoils. this game looks sick, the facial expressions are incredible. i CANNOT wait ! :D
Is this set in Lost Heaven?
Am absolutely thrilled about this. Finally, after nine years in the making, the second installment is coming to a shop near you. Looks fingerlicking good as well, with New York as an impressive backdrop. I'm actually glad it took so look to develop Mafia II, because now, in 2010, the game will look that more awesomly smooth than it would have 8, 9 years ago...
Sounds great :D Can't wait. You can trust me, I have pen
@Supabul Honestly, Bank of Nikolai is the best advertisement GameSpot has seen in a long time, for me personally, it hasn't gotten old. "Gimme your money and I take care of it no problem, it's so easy with online..." For Mafia 2, this is probably one of my most anticipated games for 2010, it has already been 8 years since Mafia 1 - and I am absolutely sure that it will blow me away. A game's story is what makes each game unique, and this, undoubtebly, will be one of the best I have yet to witness.
