User Rating: 8.5 | Mafia II PS3
Mafia 2 is an innovative mobster game with a powerful, very great, and enthralling story to drive it along at an interesting pace. The said story is amazing and you will meet a lot of cool and brutal characters along your journay through the excellent and very fun story campaigne. However out side the great story campaigne there is not enough to do for a open world action game such as this. You can free roam in between story missions and get in gun fights with the police and federal agents. You can also rob places such as clothing stores, gas stations, bars, and gun shops, but besides that there isn't a whole lot to do in this large open city. The main problem is that there are absolutely no side missions to embark on and this would make your play through last a whole lot longer. This is the first open world action game that I have played that has no side missions. What were they thinking? I would have rated this game around a 9 out of 10, but because of this missing feature I have rated this game 8.5.

The main saving grace of this 40's and 50's mobster game is the incredible story and the very great story campaigne. The story campaigne features some fast paced, very fun, and brutal combat. The non-action missions are varied and a lot of fun too. There are such missions as contract hits, Jewlery store thefts, and collecting money for crooks. The story missions are greatly varied and keep things fresh and interesting until the end of the cool story. Too bad there are not any side missions though. Some collectables such as collecting play boy magazines and wanted posters add some much needed exploration of the big open world.

Pros:
+ Very great game play
+ Fast paced and bloody combat
+ Great variety to the weapons (The tommy guns rock)
+ Story is very character driven, enthralling, and superb
+ Story missions are greatly varied and very fun
+ Superb sound design
+ Great mobster aptmosphere
+ Great looking city
+ Cool characters to meet along the way
+ Great cut scenes that are very fun to listen to and watch as the brilliant story unfolds
+ Good collectables to find and this adds some much needed exploration
+ Good variety of enemies to take down
+ Good variety of old fashioned vehicles to drive
+ Truly feel like a 40's and 50's mobster

Cons:
_ No side missions to embark on
_ Free roam is not good
_ Not enough to do outside the story campaigne
_ Replay value is good, but not great

Also the graphics, presentation, controlls, over all game play, and sound design are all great in this very cool mobster style action game.
