An otherwise good game hampered by a few frustrating bugs and some inconsistent difficulty.

User Rating: 7.5 | Mafia II PC
Mafia II is a good game, but I'd wait a bit until you can get a better deal rather than paying full price for it. The game looks and feels very good. Combat is fun and satisfying. The world looks alive and is well detailed. The story is good and the game moves seamlessly from chapter to chapter.

That said, if you're playing on hard there seem to be times when it's incredibly easy and other times when a single shot might kill you. The AutoSave feature is near rubbish. The world is large and fantastic but there's just nothing to do. Searching for playmates and wanted posters is boring and the player is left wanting to do more in the incredibly well thought out city.

Shops and money are pointless and actually keeping a car of your own is pretty pointless as well. You never feel a sense of value for anything in the game which makes the world a little dead.

Characters and voice acting is superb however cut scenes show just how poor the graphics can be. I encountered a severely frustrating bug in the second last chapter which seriously hindered the feeling of immersion.

Mafia II just doesn't stay with you as a game. It simply isn't the large and open ended title it was looking like. Where are the side missions?
