madden 12 is a good football sim but EA could do so much better if they had some competition. There isn't any drive or passion in these developers and hopefully soon they realize they have so much more potential... or so we hope...

I wish 2k could make another nfl game madden blows its always the same old stuff.

EA has taken advantage of this monopoly long enough, let some other companies use the NFL license so there is competition. EA sells $50 roster updates every season, it is BS.

NFL needs to cancel their deal with EA, who consistently release games just to get them out and sell copies, not to make them to their potential. If only 2K still could make football games... :( ESPN NFL 2K5 > Madden 12

This game is balls. The first few games were exciting, but as with every year, the more you play, the more the persistent issues (ball trajectory, DB coverage, QB release time) annoy the hell out of you. Seriously considering trading mine in.

I'll admit that Madden hasn't changed much over the year but this review has bad points. 1) Skip the opening show then. 2) About 1% of the people that buy this game actually care about replays. So I wouldn't say that it is very bad and is a major concern. Why the hell would you want to watch a replay online? Just go straight to your gameplan, don't be watching some player catch a 10 yard pass. This is just a terrible point in reviewing the game, sure it might not be the best, but who the hell cares about replays 3) Balls bouncing in weird angles. Well I haven't really noticed it much, but I suppose it is there 4) "QBs getting lit up in practice", how is this a point that the game is not that good? They're not going to rewrite code for a little mode that not many people use. And of the people that do use it, I doubt they care 5) I admit the menus are sluggish. 6) He overplayed the offseason bidding. It is a pay in the butt if you want to sign people in multiple positions. I agree with him that if you own 2011, don't buy 2012, but this game is still great and one of the best out there.

Why haven't they brought back the baseball fields? Those were small things that were included in last gen madden. It adds to the realism.

you guys are right. madden has been the same for a few years now but depite the little changes made to the game there are going to be many people that buy it because thier still die hard fans out there. I pitty EA though cuz they tanked on thier NBA serious a year ago and i was a huge fan of "live", i was playin it for years and now im a 2k fan. since there is no other football game out there worth playing then i will be still playin madden and buyin the new game every year for while.

I think I speak for most madden fans when I say anyone who wants to see a replay while playing online cannot be taken seriously

Being a fan of the NFL I used to love Madden, couldn't wait to get the new game each year, but it's not like that anymore. I still rent the new game every year to see if it's worth buying and it has come a long way from Madden '06, but '06 was horrible and Madden has just become a big bummer every year. EA just doesn't have any reason to actually put any effort into it; as someone below posted, " If you play Madden, you buy the new year's game, regardless.", and EA knows the lemmings will buy it no matter what. On top of that there is no other compitition, and so this sad tradition will continue anually. Maybe someday a Madden game will come out that's worth buying, and I hope it's soon, but until then it's another year of NFL 2K5, which isn't a bad thing really.

To result to name calling because you do not like a review is small. I will not say childish because there are many mature good children. So I will not place you, whom do the name calling, in their same c.l.a.s.s. Calm down. And the reviewer's speech pattern is fine. So what about a lisp. You care? Just in case your parents didn't teach you I'll tell you that if you cannot be kind then don't say anything. There is a way to say that you do not like something without being cruel. GOT IT?!

Why do they have a guy who has a slight lisp do video reviews? And I can't believe he said it's not worth buying if you own 2011. What a schmuck. If you play Madden, you buy the new year's game, regardless.

It's the same game every year with very little improvements (if any).

EA needs some competition. they need someone to light fire under their buts so then they will "Have to" put out a better product.

The reviewer did a good job explaining the nuances of the latest Madden game. I've been playing the game since the release night and he is accurate on the topics he addressed. It is his opinion and it's not any more serious than that, So calm down folks. If you have a different opinion write a review. Football is always exciting because of the stakes being played for. Yes you can love playing football in Madden and dislike the tweaks or the fact that the game is improving so very little at a time.

after playing nba 2k11 the commentary in these games are just atrocious

i really just bought this crap,,,,, ugggghhh, EA u suck!!!, i am not happy with this game at all and i cant even bring it back for a refund, they give u 25$ trade in value back out of 60$ that i jus paid for 3 freaking days ago.... this is B S, u jus lost a long time sports fan you freakin careless iddiots, scrap next years madd like u guys did LIVE, so 2K can have the NFL rights and do right by us football fans....EA sports can BLOW ME!!!!!

Just take a year out EA!! Just do it. You know it makes sense. With all that money and the amount of top programmers you have, you have the potential to take American Football simulation to the next level... all you need is time!! Listen to your fans rather than your greed and the rewards will be far greater than just the profits!

this is kind of a crap review. no madden is not WAAY better this year but to down play the new momentum engine which gets rid of suction, and a brand new franchise, and call them insignificant. There is even dynamic performance which i like because if i keep killing the opposing qb he will play worse. But this guy wants better replays... if they had longer replays online that would get crazy annoying. Ive learned to ignore gamespots sports game reviews because its clear they don't know what they are talking about, expecialy after that ncaa 12 review where the guy complained about the lines.

What the f*** is up with the Inception music in the beginning?

Will you guys please shut up about 2k5? EA and 2K still compete in the hockey genre. Want to know what happened? 2k gave up because they couldn't keep up with EA. NHL11 just blew 2k11 out of the water. I'd like 2k to make a football game just so Madden gets the amazing updates that the NHL series gets year after year.

So... when the (insert explicit here) is EA gonna reboot the Mutant League series?? Seriously... with all of these crazy sports engines they have, all it's gonna take is a re-skin and some setting tweaks, and you've got a new game series that's full of awesome! Am I the only one that thinks this is a no-brainer?

The problem is EA promotes this game as a sports sim. It's arcade football. People who have played both 2k5 and Madden realize that 2k5 played more like real football.

Madden STAGNATION 2012 Seriously... when does EA realize this games engine is about 3 or more years past it's time? Do something NEW already and something we can get EXCITED about !!! Implement the Euphoria physics/tackling engine into Madden or GTFO already EA!!! I'm so tired of this yearly folly which is a yearly mediocre Madden release at best.

@wsh_12 I agree, thats how the Nascar series was, it actually got worse every year. Sports games need competition to keep the games improving.

i noticed the replay thing in the demo...half the time it started when the receiver freaking caught the ball or was being tackled already.... i really hope they fix this because i use replays to try to better myself and that completely ruins it

Nothing to do with 2k fanboys. If 2k series was still around, would give Madden some competition and maybe they would finally change their game up! Madden is the same game every year, face it. With no other football game for them to go up against, they can just keep making the same game every year and people will keep blowing 60 bucks. Smart on EASports part. They got Madden fans played. When 2K5 was out, it was a great football game and a hell of a deal for 20 bucks. I don't care what Madden fanboys say, it was better than Madden at a fraction of the cost. I so wish we could have that series back, TIRED OF SAME OLD MADDEN GAME YEAR IN YEAR OUT WITH A COUPLE TWEAKS!
