Upgraded presentation doesn't overcome the numerous glitches and bugs this game has.

EA Sports says, "If it's in the game, it's in the game". Well EA, please show me where in the NFL linebackers made numerous interceptions and can suddenly leap 12 feet into the air to knock down passes? Show me defensive backs that can make Nostradamus-like defensive plays about 80% of the time. And show me where Plaxico Burress is mentioned anytime during a game about being a great DEFENSIVE player.

Madden isn't really a bad game per se, but it's a poorly constructed one. It's like a shiny turd. The upgrades made to the presentation are solid, and really gives the feeling of being at an NFL game. Then again, the look of the game has never been a problem with Madden. The running game is fast and fluid. The details gone into each player (looks, throwing style, mannerisms, etc) are pretty spot on.

But that's about it for the positives. First off, EA decided to answer complaints about easy pass defense by taking the realism out of it. The same thing happened with NCAA 12. Too many passes knocked down by linebackers who aren't anywhere near the ball. They suddenly become supermen who can magically zoom to where ever the ball is being thrown. Next, it seems that whoever play tested this game for bugs needs to be fired. Announcers are annoying while managing to screw up lines and info about players. Not giving the option to turn off the accelerated clock during franchise mode is pretty dumb. The new role system is rather useless. The soundtrack is one of the worst as of late (aside from a couple of great classic rap songs). Collision detection has gotten better, but I still see warping through players and walls on occasion.

I could keep going, but I think you get the drift. Madden isn't a bad game but it's just not worth $60 for the slight upgrades in presentation that you get. This is a rather sloppy effort that really does seem to give evidence that the Madden team is simply content with making a mediocre game because they know it will sell like hotcakes.
