Yeah, with the updated rosters thing...There's pretty much nothing out there and I'll usually just update my personal rosters the hard way (trading, signing, etc.). This isn't as fun since we can't create new players in the PSP version, but it's still worth it to update what I can.

yup, still my favorite! I just played Madden 2011 on PSP (friend had it) Yuck! 08 remains the final and most realistic football game on the PSP
Now......can't wait to see what the PSP2 will be able to do for Madden (or even the 3DS). Maybe we will get the full franchise experience? Create a team? Create a play? Create a player? The Superstar mode from the 2007 PS2 game? An actual super bowl celebration and a bit more detail during games etc?
Can't wait!!!!

Yeah, I really think the PSP2 will be able to deliver a full Madden experience with Create-A-Player and all the bell & whistles.
But, until then...this is still the best. ;-)

Madden 10 has that cool create a play feature. Sure wish this version had that. I must say it is addicting to create your own plays. Just wish it wasn't in the Madden 10 version.
How cool would it be to have it in this version? Too bad you can't clip and paste it into this one :-(

I agree, I did like this feature. I also liked the camera-shaking in the newer games and the hot/cold meters too. It would be awesome to copy/paste, but we all know that can't happen, lol.
During a game, before I make the snap and hike the ball I will sometimes change a WR's route to go where I want them too, which is somewhat similar to creating my own play. It's simple, but effective and throws off the defense. I guess we have to sacrifice a few menu modes for some awesome gameplay...oh well.

i have madden 10. its ok but the the problems it has are really game breaking for me:
-no accelerated clock
-over abundance of talent in the draft.
-bad control layout
-cant turn off qb evade feature
i just cant play a football game without acc clock. thats one reason i gave up on 2k5. as far as the draft goes, every year there will be 10 QBs with 95 throw strength and 85 throw accuacy and an overall rating of 78-84. it just realy just ruins franchise mode. the control layout is realy unintuitive. it has you hold L trigger and press o and [] to juke and /\ to truck but sometimes when you press L trigger the player your controlling stops running. i think its a glitch. and as far as the qb evade, your qb will just start going ape sh*t. realy gets in the way of you being able to get off a pass.
from what you say, 08 has the acc clock and has a better draft system. those are my 2 most important things in a football game. i might give it a try. 06 and 07 also have the acc clock right?

Sorry for not getting back sooner. You are correct, all Madden games up to 2008 include the accelerated clock option. The controls on the newer versions were really deal breakers for me as well and I still can't get over not using "X" to sprint.
Also, Madden 08 does have a good draft system and generally isn't over exaggerated like some. There is still decent talent to choose from, but nothing like what you've described.
My favorite Madden is 08 by far and before this it was 06, which was my first ever PSP game. I kind of skipped over 07 and don't have any regrets yet. Let me know which one you plan to pick up!

what is the control layout for 08? does it use L and R to juke, [] and o to spin/dive, x to sprint and /\ to truck? yeah 08 sounds good. i'll probably pick that one up some time soon. i still play all the last gen maddens. i like that the psp versions use that last gen game engine. anyway, thanks for the help.

Yeah, the control layout is exactly as you described, which is one of the main reasons this Madden is so good. I really hate using the R button to sprint...really. No problem on the help! Have fun with the game down the road.
