Madden NFL 08 is the best Madden on the PSP

Seriously. I've played all of them to date (06-11) and none of them compare to 08. Since the first game (06) the PSP started out well, then had a strong running with 07, and finally topped it off with 08. All the games after this (09-11) have been ridiculous heaps of garbage that have actually gotten worse by the year.

Madden 08

- Best graphics
- Best gameplay
- Best controls
- Best overall physics
- The last Madden on PSP to include PS2 connectivity for rosters, franchise mode, etc.
- An actual sim-like atmosphere, as opposed to an arcade-like feel in the newer games.

Thanks for the comment. As far as the rookie scouting goes, I'm not too sure because I usually just "wing-it", based on the players' speed, agility, interview, etc. With the player icons, I don't think those can be turned off. They come up when you press "R" on the field, but they're not showing all the time which is good.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The drafting aspect is a bit tougher in this version, and for good reason. Teams do usually draft 7 picks a year, most hit or miss, and then look to fill 4-5 or even 6 positions with those players. That's kind of the fun of the draft too, since we never know what we're going to get in the player we draft. I agree that we should be getting some more info on the player when trophies are earned though. I never really got that deep into Madden 07, so I'm too familiar with that area.

The overall offseason schedule is always really fun though. I love how they divided the Free Agency signing periods into two separate events, which allows us to sign some needed players after the rookie draft.

During the draft I try not to get much in the first round because I don't like paying the ridiculous rookie salaries we're forced to pay. Second round talent is usually almost as good, and leaves plenty of cap room for other things. My favorite picks though are usually in the 3-4th round area because we can still draft good talent, mid to high 70's overall, at a good price that could eventually develop into starting roles a year or two later.

In my first post, I stated this...

It's wrong. Madden 08 does include PS2 connectivity, but only for spawned games within the franchise mode. There is no "PSP System Link", like Madden 06 had.

On another note, I would like to add these points to the list of why Madden 08 on the PSP is awesome...

- Last Madden on the PSP to include the Accelerated Clock

- Best play calling menu (The face buttons are actually used here, instead of putting the cursor on the play you want, then pressing X like in Madden 09. This makes play calling much faster.)
