Luigi's solo debut is good, not great.

The main goal of this game is to find Luigi's' brother, Mario, who has disappeared in a mansion he won and rescue him. Mario is trapped in a painting, and you need to find where he is located in the mansion and get him out of the painting. Throughout the game you need to flashlight and the Polterghost 3000 (designed by E. Gadd and is basically a vacuum that you use to suck up ghosts). Another tool you will need to use is the GameBoy Horror. This device tells you where items and ghosts are located in a room. The storyline could have used a few more twists and turns, and a few harder bosses (the only challenging boss was Bowser). If this would have been included the value would have increased.

The gameplay in Luigi's Mansion was again good, not great. It got very frustrating at times when you shine the flashlight onto a ghost, and it does not stun them, thus not allowing you to suck up that ghost. It takes a long time to get used to controlling the flashlight with the C stick, but once you grasp the concept it becomes second-nature.

Enough about gameplay, now to graphics and sound. The visuals are very nicely done, and an abundant amount of ghosts keeps the game from becoming too repetitive. The music got very old, very fast and hearing Luigi say "Mario" over and over every time you tap the A button and are not near a table, vase, or a door is very annoying.

Luigi's Mansion is a nice game worth playing, but don't expect to get even ten hours of gameplay out of it. With just a few more levels, and a few more twists and turns, Luigi's Mansion could have been a great game.
