Luigi proves to the world that he can be just as great as his brother.

So let's start out with the story, Professor E Gad is at peace with paranormal apparitions, or ghosts if you will and the reason that they are not bothering anyone anymore is because they are being controlled by something called the Dark Moon which was created by none other than the Professor. As things are going normal something happens to the dark moon, it's destroyed by King boo, so all the ghosts go berserk and start making chaos throughout the five mansions in the area. So professor E Gad call the best ghost hunter he knows Luigi. Luigi reluctant at first doesn't have a choice as yet again you find out later through the story (Spoiler Alert) that Mario has been captured again. So Luigi must find the five pieces of the Dark Moon. While the story is pretty simplistic at least it's not oh the princess has been captured go get her back, even though you could say that because you are after Mario again but you don't figure that out until later in the story and it's not all around that. So basically the story is pretty enjoyable.

Next we have got the presentation of the game. The graphics look absolutely outstanding in 3d on the 3ds it may just be the best, something about the graphics on this game just scream 3d and it looks absolutely outstanding. The music is also really enjoyable I wouldn't say as enjoyable as the first Luigi's Mansion but still has a good soundtrack nonetheless. The charm in this game is undeniable, there is something that just draws you in with this game, Luigi will do hilarious antics and it will make you love the game even more because of the absolute charm itself and even when Luigi gets called by Professor E Gad from his Nintendo DS the ringtone is a sped up version of the main theme of the first Luigi's mansion, Every time E Gad would call I would literally turn up my 3ds all the way and let it just ring I found this part so funny and I just love it. There are five different mansions in this one instead of just one and each one is fully detailed and looks so nice, the only thing I could say I have a problem with is that in the 1st luigis mansion there is more of a darker looking Mansion and I liked that it made the game a little more scarier and my point is that there is none of that in this game, the rooms are dark and look nice but nothing really too scary too them and I can accept that because they made this game a lot different from the first one but I still prefer the look of the 1st one.

Next we have the gameplay. The mechanics have been changed from the 1st Luigi's mansion, instead of that awkward movement you must use with the c stick on the GameCube(which is not that bad) you now press the A button to shine your light at the ghost to stun them, and then you capture them by sucking them up with you vacuum by moving the control stick the opposite way the ghost is running away and you can also shock them by powering up the Poltergust by pulling them back and you will shock them making them weaker, you will also be able to upgrade it to an even longer resulting shock that makes the ghosts life go out even quicker and you will definitely need these upgrade because the ghost get much stronger. Which brings me to my next point the difficulty. Basically the way this game is played out is by playing mission by mission, as you progress you don't go through an overworld you just pick the mission, its straightforward and I like it that way. Each mission is about twenty minutes long, but can be very difficult sometimes, the reason being is that if you die just once that's it you start over, while this makes it much more challenging and adds some incentive to practice to get better, I just feel that they could have at least made one checkpoint in the level, but I don't hate the way they did this, you can also find a golden bone in certain things that will act as a extra continue, and for the most part the game isn't impossible, until you start getting to the end, but I can see why they set the game up this way so it's not as bad as Gamespot's review seems to say it is. The bosses in this game are actually quite good and actually pretty challenging, some weren't the greatest and could have been done better but for the most part each one was pretty challenging and were actually pretty good. The only one I didn't care for was the staircase monster, I'm not quite sure what they were trying to think of with this one but I just found it laughable because it was too easy and for crying out loud it's a stair case. There's also a new upgrade to your Poltergust 5000 you can now use a special light that will make you find hidden doors and certain other things, while this can be alright to use, I feel like they went a little overboard throughout some of the game, some parts you will have no idea what to do and you will be searching for hours just to find some sort of hint until you notice that you missed a door that was hiding, I just found this a bit annoying throughout some points of the games. Another great thing I find with this game is the variety of enemies in this one there are so much and they will get even stronger as you progress and some of the green ghosts will even wear protective objects to stop you from getting in an easy flash on them, and this adds a whole ton of depth to the main game mechanics.

Once you get to the final level prepare to get challenged you are going to die at least two time because this one is extremely hard, basically King Boo lets a bunch of the ghosts go wreak havoc and you must get rid of them all within a certain amount of time and you must go room to room to try and take them all out and after that you must face an ungodly amount of them in the final room of the level while it doesn't get an award for being different it is actually quite fun because it makes you feel like you are getting rid of all the ghost that are there, it's just an enjoyable moment, because it is so challenging. The final boss is no one other than King boo, it's not too challenging but not too easy either it's actually quite good, the concept is simple you make something drop on King boos head and then suck him up three times while you have to run through a house with certain obstacles that you must avoid while you avoid king boo rolling straight for you, it's actually a really good boss battle.

Overall Luigi mansion 2 loses the haunting atmosphere of the first one but gains a ton of charm too it and makes for a lot of fun. I wouldn't say this is as good as the first one, but it's definitely very close, I just feel like they put a lot of effort on this one and if you are a fan of the first one you will definitely like this one.
