Chopping up zombies with a chainsaw has never been more fun!
You play as the cheerleader and zombie hunter Juliet Starling armed with a chainsaw, pom poms and a variety of moves.. Your boyfriend nick is infected and Juliet decapitates him and uses magic to make him live as a severed head that she carries around on her waist.. The gameplay consists of Juliet hacking and decapitating zombies throughout 6 different stages each of which take around an hour to complete.. I found the combat to be very enjoyable as a hack n slash style game, it can become somewhat repetitive but thats mainly if you play for long periods.. Some areas have you try to save classmates from the zombies and some can be slightly difficult to save.. There are extremely well done boss fights at the end of each stage, while not especially difficult they are awesome to behold and are some of the craziest parts of the game.. From a viking zombie flying an airship, to a motorcycle riding metalhead that transforms into a mechanical elephant.. Mixed in throughout the game are minigames to partake in like zombie basketball, zombie baseball, defending your sisters in vehicles.. I enjoyed the minigames although some might find them a bit tedious at points.. Throughout the game you can buy new abilities and upgrades as you collect more medals from slaying zombies.. You can unlock a variety of outfits, music, and artwork as well.. One of the things you can acquire are nick tickets which let you play a roulette game with random powers for each ticket, some are more useful then others, one lets you whip the severed head around in the air and causes damage and concusses zombies.. Another one lets you shake the head and coins and lollipops will fly out..
One thing that should be noted is yes the game is only about 6 hours long.. But this game is designed to be played through multiple times so I found that to be the perfect length for a game like this.. The music in this game is fantastic, with 80s pop songs and death metal and various other types as well.. Each usually fitting the stage and boss that you must fight.. The sound effects and voice acting are very well done although some characters can be a little annoying, one of her sisters in particular but still funny. I found the graphics in this game to be actually quite good.. It really does not have a budget title look or feel to it like some games give the impression of.. Overall this game is well worth playing through at least once... Rent it or buy it!
