Lock-On: Modern Air Combat E3 2003 Preshow Report
The upcoming modern-era combat flight simulation for PC will be on hand at this year's E3.
Ubi Soft will have its upcoming combat flight simulator Lock-On: Modern Air Combat at its E3 booth. The developer of the acclaimed Flanker series will hopefully finish their work on this promising new game this year.
Lock-On: Modern Air Combat will be a survey simulation that will let you fly one of eight modern-day combat aircraft. Among others, you'll be able to fly the Russian Su-27, the German MiG-29A, and even the powerful American A-10A Thunderbolt II. The game will feature a single-player campaign consisting of 20 missions that will take place in and around the Caucasus Mountains and Crimean peninsula. Though the developer will attempt to make a full-featured simulation that flight simulator veterans will enjoy, it's also attempting to make Lock-On as accessible as possible to new players, who might otherwise find the complexity (and punishing physics system) of a traditional flight simulator too daunting. The game will feature scalable realism and physics settings that should help ease new players into the game's flight model. In addition, Lock-On will feature both competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes that will support up to eight players for online play and 32 players over a network. The game will even feature a campaign editor that will let you create your own levels. Lock-On: Modern Air Combat is scheduled for release later this year.
