An endearing, innovative and whimsical platforming extravaganza!
The premise is simple. Create a SackBoy or SackGirl, customized/tricked-out/blinged to your specifications, and venture forth into the world, evading traps, solving puzzles, collecting stickers and leaving your mark on the world as you traipse across a crazy world of immersive levels full of colorful and clever creatures and critters. The more you progress through the world, the more stickers, patterns, and objects you can collect, allowing for even more customizations to SackBoy and the world around him. One of the best things about LBP, though, is the seamless multiplayer capabilities, where your friend can pop into your game and both of you can play through the level, helping each other through traps and puzzles. The game actually rewards co-op play, as there are certain areas on each level that are only accessible with two or more players, each co-op area unlocking more stickers and collectibles. Before LBP, I was never really a fan of co-op, but this game showed me how fun it can be playing a game like this with your friends!
The other thing about LBP that blows the competition out of the water is the built-in level-designer. Equipped with all the materials, stickers, objects, and collectibles that you gather through the whole game, any enterprising and creative gamer can create their own vast world of levels, replete with traps, puzzles, and rewards. With this functionality, the LBP gaming universe is effectively infinite, with users able to post their creations on the LBP servers for all to enjoy. I've downloaded several of the user-created levels, and some of them are truly mind-blowing.
Overall, LittleBigPlanet is one of the most unique and charming gaming experiences available for the PS3 or any other platform. It provides practically endless hours of play, especially when you consider the vast quantities of user-made levels. LittleBigPlanet is a must-have for any gamer's collection.
