How do I make the smiley face sign not turn to a red x?

the sign flips when you pass the point where new people cant enter the came without you starting. Prior to you crossing past that point, if you are playing online new players can join you. Once you pass, it's just who you are currently playing with.

the sign turns to an x indicating that it is a closed level so people joining late wont be alowed in untill the level has restarted so no matter what itl turn to an X

You cant make it not go red X.

The sign just means no one can join your game after that point. Don't worry about it.
