LittleBigPlanet returns with more features and surprises which will make you want more.

User Rating: 9.5 | LittleBigPlanet 2 PS3
Since 2008 LittleBigPlanet has been a huge success worldwide and more than 3 millions levels have been published by everyone including you. Fans of the first LittleBigPlanet will have most likely been hyped up for the sequel LittleBigPlanet 2. The original date was set for November 2010 but got delayed until January 2011 so was the extra waiting worth the wait?

You could say yes, with so many tweaks and features that were in the first game. There are more features, tools and content added making this game creative for anyone to use if they want to build their own levels. If you were one of those players that did play LittleBigPlanet and still has all there saved stuff from user-levels, goodies and their own Sack-character dressed in clothing; you can carry all of that into LittleBigPlanet 2.

The story plot however takes after the first game and the PSP version where Sackboy's adventure has come to end. A strange looking vacuum cleaner appears over the skies of LittleBigPlanet and begins to suck up everything from its inhabitants, including Sackboy. A leader called Larry Da Vinci of a semi-secret semi-organised group known as "The Alliance" comes to Sackboy's rescue saving him from what they call "The Negativitron". The organisation is a group of rebels and is dedicated to battling with "The Negativitron" and defending it before it destroys Craftworld.

Gameplay: With LittleBigPlanet being a 2D/3D platformer for the series, you'll notice a lot of surprising moments that will happen throughout the main story in the game. Each of the worlds you'll visit will in a set of 5 levels to go through, each one will have a theme to that world. What will surprise you that not only you'll be platforming your way through the levels, some of the levels can turn into side-scrollers like Space Invaders or something similar you'll be firing beams at enemies.

Also mini-games do make a return where you can play with friends or play on your which is a little similar to survivor mode see how you can keep alive for. But to unlock mini-games and community levels you'll need to pick keys which will be scatted through various levels. Most of these you can play online or offline which will earn a trophy if you do play any versus levels. You'll also have the option to use Sackbots which are robots who will follow you or while creating your own levels you can control there movements and emotions which can be really clever to use.

Another feature you'll notice that you'll be using gizmo devices like the Grappling Hook to swing your way across levels or the Grabinator to throw heavy objects or cakes at enemies. If you did purchase most of the DLC levels from LBP 1 like the MGS Level pack and the Pirates of the Caribbean pack; you'll be able to play those levels again LBP 2 and be able to use those materials if you want to make your own levels.

Graphics and Sound: As I mention this before graphics haven't changed as much from the LBP 1 but the graphics do look a little clear and of course have some of the best visuals from its charcters and levels. Most of the worlds you'll visit have their own theme and settings like Da Vinci's levels are based on around the 1500's or Victoria's levels are all in a Cake/Sweet world.

Since LittleBigPlanet is about Play, Share and Create you now have the option to make your own movies; make them as silly as you like or try and remake classic movies like Back to the Future or Jaws. Some users have created movies like them if you look on Cool Levels in the game you'd be surprised how well done they are.

The only problem that you will find annoying and especially if you are playing up to four-players online, the camera can really struggle during multiplayer. If one player is ahead of you and the other is way behind the camera is going to focus on following the players that are in front of you.

Once again for voicing Stephen Fry makes a return to LittleBigPlanet for teaching you on how to use the new tools and gadgets that you will use to make your own levels. And also refreshing your memory at the beginning of the game on what the controls are again. Voicing in general is pretty impressive where like Da Vinci's voicing does sound like John Cleese but in gibberish or the other charcters you'll meet will have a posh accent or a low-life workers accent.

The soundtrack also does a great job for most of the levels in LittleBigPlanet 2, you can make your own music as well or try and r-create tunes and themes from other films and games.

Overall: I loved the first LittleBigPlanet for what it was back in 2008 and since then I've enjoyed playing through the user-created levels that players online have made. If you have played through the Beta like I have you'd be pretty much hyped up for the sequel. Beating the main story shouldn't take you as long at least but it will take you longer if you want to beat the game without dying once or collecting all trophies.

There is Playstation Move support for this game but I can't really talk about it as much because I don't own one but will come with Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves which are mini-adventures but set in the Stone-Age.

Fans of the LittleBigPlanet series will really have a fun time playing through the sequel and of course trying out the new tools and features. But I do wonder what Media Molecule will do next? LittleBigPlanet 3 maybe...
