A girlfriend-approved game.

To be honest when Little Big Planet was announced for the Playstation 3 it looked weird and obtuse. I didn't really know what to make of it and so I never bothered playing it until after Sony gave me free money to buy games due to that Playstation network incident a year ago. I used that money to purchase Little Big Planet and instantly loved it. Most importantly it's such a casual game that you can bring your friends and girlfriend too and she's guaranteed to love it especially if she likes collecting cute dresses and controlling teddy bears. In fact I noticed that most of the outfits are dresses. It took forever to find pants for my character because I would only find dresses.

LBP is in my opinion a pretty easy game. It's definitely for a casual audience. I like that aspect of it because it is easy to sit down and play a couple of levels inbetween my busy life instead of playing a hardcore story-driven game.

What surprises me most about the game is its engine. I have never seen such a robust engine before that can do so much. I am surprised that you could control vehicles, have awesome side scrolling shooter action, and epic platforming sections up giant robots.

In addition if you are OCD about collecting everything, you will probably commit suicide because there is so much stuff to collect.

Little Big Planet 2 is not without it's faults though minor. I have found that most player-generated maps are not worth it because they aren't as polished and detailed as the main story levels. I guess they just aren't my thing.

I am a big fan of miniature levels. Thematically I liked the variety of levels from the first game more than the second.

Overall this is a great game and I recommend it for all.
