it looks cool and sounds cool but the whole feeling is kinda dark like the screen has a funny tint to it so maybe good or bad what do u guys think?
We get a first look at Little Big Planet 2's forays into other genres.
The first Little Big Planet ushered in the age of easily creating and sharing tools for consoles, but though some enterprising designers forced their creative visions beyond the game's boundaries, it was still primarily a platformer. Sony showed off new footage of Little Big Planet 2 at its press conference, and it looks to go far beyond even its ambitions progenitor.
Today we got a look at some of the other genres you can easily create levels for in LBP2. You can design your own real-time strategy, role-playing, puzzle, and racing game, as well as 2D shooters. You can also test them out in a simple competitive mode, which we got to quickly see. A puzzle game was whipped together that separated the playing field into four separate columns, each controlled by a different player. This game was built purely on dexterity, forcing players to quickly tap the highlighted button before their competitors.
Other multiplayer minigames included a top-down arena battle in which you needed to push your opponents out of an electrified ring and a 2D shooter in which players had jetpacks strapped to their backs and shot missiles at their opponents. Other genre types were shown off in a single-player setting. There was a 2D side-scrolling shooter reminiscent of Gradius; a light gun game that looked an awful lot like Duck Hunt; a top-down boxing match; and a top-down shooter that was similar to Ikari Warriors. There was also an RTS within the single-player campaign, and one boss fight ended with a psychedelic shooting section that would make Jeff Minter proud.
Little Big Planet 2 looks to be overflowing with variety and fun. Stay tuned to GameSpot to see our hands-on impressions for this cool-looking game.
had lbp on psp nd now gt a ps3 cnt wait to get this as the psp version of the first was really gd well i thought it was ^_^
@RhythmMan and let's not forget all of those amazing trophy levels. the same thing is happened to ModNation Racers right now. it's rather depressing.
@VixDiesel True, I made a few LBP levels when the game came out. But there were sooooo many people doing it that my levels got overlooked. That's when I decided it was too much effort, personally. But there are some great level designers out there...I'll just enjoy their levels and THEY can have the 'create, share, etc' trophies :-)
@dkjestrup What are you talking about? Cheating to get trophies? You're missing the point, I'm not saying that I can't do it, just chose not to create LBP levels. I barely have time to check in on Gamespot for E3 updates, lol. To me personally, it seems more work than fun to advertise on multiple social websites (like you recommended) to get more traffic on a videogame level I create. If I were selling it for money then HELLZ YEAH I'd put in some time to making some levels, lol. The trophy isn't that important to me, sorry if you got the wrong impression that I cared about it. Just saying it's asking a bit much for a trophy. No problem if you disagree, cheers
Single player was longer than 5 hours in the original. Acing all and collecting everything take longer time.
@RhythmMan And even if you did make this awesome level, what are the chances people will even see it.
@RhythmMan You guys just don't understand it do you. Just because you play the game, doesn't mean you deserve to get trophies. Stop complaining that you don't have enough time, or aren't good enough to, make a great level. If you aren't good enough, then you don't get the trophy. It's a shame sore losers cheat to get the trophy, making it less valuable to people who earned it legitimately. Just because you're in a basketball team doesn't mean you deserve to win a championship (Celtics in 7 btw). And if you're having trouble getting exposure, simply advertise on websites like LBP Central, Gamefaqs, the official LBP forums, etc.
@vixdiesel Agree 100%, I couldn't stand those trophies either. They might have well just said 'here's a few trophies you'll never get, and forget ever getting a platinum' haha Some of us don't want, or don't have the time, to create huge detailed levels of our own. Then after putting in that much time HOPE that other people like it enough to heart you, heart the level, and play through the level 50, 100, 500 times (whatever the trophies were)
Really look forward to more info on this. This seems to be one of those games that will change everything.
