LittleBigPlanet 2 does everything it's predecessor did right, and more!

In 2008, developer Media Molecule took a leap of faith in the platforming genre with LittleBigPlanet. The acclaimed hit won many awards, primarily for it's online features and tons of creative abilities.

Three years later, after a portable game had been released, a return to the series appeared in the form of LittleBigPlanet 2. The sequel takes everything the first game did right, and adds even more to make this one of the best platformers ever.

Although LittleBigPlanet 2 is oriented for more than one player, the game includes a single player mode that features 30+ levels, and is actually pretty fun.

Picking up where the first game left off, you play as Sackboy, who joins "The Alliance" in Craftworld when the evil Negativitron begins destroying the haven.

The levels in the story are beautifully put together, graphically and gameplay-wise. The game has an art style like no other that is sure to charm everyone. The levels all challenge your wits, including new gameplay elements that will test you until the very end. The levels can actually be pretty difficult as well, so "acing" (completing the level without dying) feels oh-so satisfying.

Even better, these levels can be completed with up to four players, with some levels featuring special areas that require all four players to get new stickers, materials, or goodies.

Speaking of that, a main element of the story levels is the score and prize bubbles. Score bubbles increase your score (which is shown to the world when you complete levels), and collecting five in quick succession gives you a score multiplier. Prize bubbles are hidden in levels, but finding them rewards you with new items, ranging from goodies to put in levels to stickers, or even new costumes.

The place where LittleBigPlanet really shines is the community levels, where players can play levels uploaded by, well, the community! Levels are nearly endless, so finding the right level for you is anything but impossible.

The "Community Levels" feature allows you to upload levels you've created yourself! Although the level editor is pretty complex, even the simplest levels can be a blast to play when you get together with three of your buddies.

The Special Edition of the game is a pretty good deal. Buying the Special Edition gives you the PlayStation Move and Toy Story level packs, as well as a large handful of costume packs. The total savings adds up to a whopping $35, a fantastic deal.

Overall, LittleBigPlanet 2 is even better than the original. Although the game is perfectly fine with one person, the multiplayer elements make this a creative multiplayer platformer that manages to be creative in the recent years of same 'ol, same 'ol.
