Zombies in Fairytale Land

The zombie sub genere hasn't shown signs of slowing down yet; it seems like you can just about make any game about them these days. This under the radar cult gem is another soild and bizzare entry, it's also one for the under practiced sub genre run and gun.

What I really like about the game is the format they use which is one I really don't see much in the run and gun subgenre. The only times I've ever seen this format utilized in it's entireity are the two Konami arcade games "Devestators" and "G.I. Joe" which to me is the best game in that format. I'll admit seeing this game use that is a breath of fresh air, having this kind of game on dual screen was the best idea I really like how the game made great use of it which help made the enviorment broad.

The graphcs are good nothing really extrodinary, but good enough to create a fun and bizzare cartoon like enviorment. Along with the character animations the two human character look like something out of an anime, and the enimies are both funny and threatening looking. Music is decent, does it's job in moving things.

Most importantly the gameplay I think is really good. The use of the touchscreen is great it really works well for this kind of game, and it makes me wonder why the heck don't we have more run and guns, light gun and shmups (shoot em ups) for this system to utilize this. Anyway, what I like is the fact you don't have to button mash all you have to do is just simply touch the screen and you automatically fire and to reload you just let go of the screen briefly; so no more sore thumbs. You have a decent varity of weapons that you can pick whenever you need them depending on the situation, along with the typical emergency only bomb which you tap twice to fire.

The pacing is good, there are a decent varity of sub enimies to keep you firing. But what I like the most are the bosses whom are zombified versions of the fantasy characters we know and love. Sleeping Beauty and the three fairys, Pinocio, Santa Claws, the Three Pigs, each fight is always different which keep this from feeling standard let alone it's both a bizzare and gutsy move zombifing them; I wouldn't say I feel too bad about blowing them away since they are zombies after all what are you going to do.

The only miss fire is the game can be a little repetitive. From the decent variety of sub enimies and certain sittuations in levels they feel just a bit too much the same. It would of been nice is there was a bit more variety in the sub enimies and variation in levels to keep this from happening but oh well this is just a minor miss fire.

Overall it's a soild run and gun game that I think is worth a shot. This zombie BBQ has sizzle.
