Amazing this game was released back in 2002 and not even tiger woods beats it for realism. I golf in real life so this game is the next best thing when i cant hit the course. Ive tried them all and always come back to links, it just plain works. I use the realtime swing( using mouse movement to hit the ball) , ball physics is amazing and the mod community has kept this game going for many years. Links corner is probably the best website to download user made courses and mods to update this game, the latest mod (ver1.07) enables widescreen support and updates several other aspects of the game. Course designers are now using better textures to make the game look even more realistic, and there is a designer program available(apcd) so you can design your own course. Too bad there hasnt been another one made since, it seems there is too much focus nowdays on making games friendly for everyone and less on realism making it "too hard" to play.
