With an undeniable charm and beauty, is easy to fall in love with this simple but amazing game.
To start with something, Limbo, as it is, is unique. Nothing to compare of, it stands in a special position in the gaming world. Not without reason, if I could say, Limbo can touch us very deep.
The atmosphere is just brilliant. All in black & white, the main character must pass through all sorts of obstacles to survive - and this will not be easy. Clever and hard puzzles will be in the way, never feeling something unnatural or forced in the way, but all inside the context, flowing naturally through the dark adventure.
The puzzles are so well made and so great, that will be easy to fall in a trap if the player doesn't stop to analyze and think in the situation. Can sound a little "trial and error", but only if the player don't possess a good hand for the controls – or a sharp eye to catch and notice them. Also, the challenge in solve those puzzles can be very rewarding.
Back to the atmosphere, Limbo has a special touch of darkness that gives a mysterious air to it. It will not even get slow with the violence. Let our little hero touch in a mortal and dangerous razor and the player will only stay looking to his limbs be cut to everywhere. And this is made in a way that, death, borders cruelty.
Talking about flying everywhere, the physics in this game just works perfectly, being a key element to calculate some puzzles and even jumps, avoiding falling in a deadly pit or even missing the right distance and be smashed by a giant rock, for example.
But the controls are very easy and simple. Using only the directional's and the "left ctrl" is incredible how much it can get from this simple configuration.
Pack all that with a superb sound design that made everything more unreal, like a true limbo, and our little hero will be immersed in this dark, mysterious and cruel world, being up to us lead him through all those dangers, avoiding traps and solving puzzles that flows naturally and that all look for his death in this surreal and unforgettable adventure.
