Broken online features + too few levels = waste of money.

User Rating: 4.3 | Lemmings PS3
First things first.... The online scoreboard is broken... or at least it appears to be in the European version. At the end of each level, you are given the time it took you to complete that level. Unfortunately, this is not what ends up under your name on the scoreboard. Sometimes I get a completion time that's approximately right, other times it's way off. Really the only thing that will make you come back and replay the levels for a better time is to get to the top of the leaderboard, so if that's broken, it takes away a lot of the point of the game.

The levels are pretty uninspiring. It's a real shame they couldn't have included the re-worked original levels that the PSP version has.

The graphics are nice, although you would have thought they could give you more control over the zoom level. Just like the PSP version, there are only two zoom levels and you'll end up using the far away view almost exclusively.

The sound is utterly horrible and far too loud. it's a lot louder than any other PS3 game I own and it gets irritating having to turn the volume right down every time I play (and up again for any other PS3 games). This is bad enough when you're playing the game, but even when you're in the PS3's cross media bar, highlighting the Lemmings icon causes that dreadful music

The music is awful... and I like the original Lemmings music. One of the classic tracks from the original game is in there, but about halfway through the main tune kicks in in totally the wrong key! The rest of the music is completely forgettable, and I wish they had included more of the original music (played properly though). Also, where's the option to blow up all Lemmings? It's been removed. Now if there are any blockers left over, the level automatically ends. Where's the fun in that? I used to love blowing up all my remaining Lemmings at the end of a level.

Finally, the controls are pretty bad. You can move the pointer around with the analogue stick, but you can't select any of the Lemming abilities - for that you have to use the shoulder buttons. Why? It forces you to pause the game while you step sequentially through each ability until you get to the right one. I''m a big fan of Lemmings; I've played it on the Amiga, the Sega Megadrive, the PC and the PSP. Although the controls in some of those versions were similarly awkward, the games were overall extremely enjoyable. This PS3 version of Lemmings is by far the most disappointing version I've encountered.

If they ever get round to releasing some of the classic levels via the PlayStation Store, fixing the music and maybe putting out a patch to fix the online issues, then add a couple of points to my score.
