Lego Star Wars offers a nice blend of kid-friendly action and puzzle solving while staying true to both properties.

"Just plain fun"
Lego has been making Star Wars models for some time now, but who would've thought a decent game would arise from it?

Lego Star Wars allows you to play through all of the prequel trilogy as any character you darn well please, that is, after you've played through with the original characters first.

In every room, there will be no less then seven objects to interact with, of that I'm sure. And you'll need to, as there are a lot of bonuses in the game. For the presentation of the game, Traveller's Tales nailed the nail on the head. The fluid motion of the Lego people and objects is excellent, and it all looks, very much, like a kid's dream fantasy. However, the game doesn't really push the hardware of the PS2 by any means.

Gameplay can seem a little overly simplified, but being as it's meant to be playable by all, it's another goal met. But sometimes, the simplicity caused only frustration in getting some of the bonuses. You actually end up not using most of the PS2 controller at all, feeling like some actions were missed opportunities. The sound is, for the most part, the same Star Wars sound effects and scores you've been hearing forever. There are some more wyhmsical pieces to accompany the humor of the game, but it and the one Lego-related sound effect don't add much. With lots of stuff to hunt for, and the ability to play through the prequel saga as any character of your choosing and two-player capabilities, there is some replay value. Granted, not a lot, but enough to make it a game to possibly come back to after a while.
