User Rating: 8 | LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars PS3
I read some of the reviews and thought of writing my very first here. I have been playing games since I was 5 years old. Original Atari and intelevision owner. Games have evolved greatly since then. I have owned every console since. I have a 5 and 12 year old now and let me tell you, I have used video games for fun, educational and hand/eye coordination development with both of them. But lately I have found games to be way too advanced for my 5 year old and some just inappropriate for both of them. The Lego franchise has been around for a few years now and I have always found them to be great and filled with comedic moments. These games should be rated on their user friendliness, graphics and fun factor. Not on the basis of other next gen, adult oriented games. Anyone looking for seriousness in these will for sure be disappointed. I bought the game on the release date and played it with the kids. Were now at 99.6% complete and I have found this game to have had it's ups and downs but in the end, my kids and I spent quality time together and had a blast playing through the great world of Star Wars. My 5 year old was actually able to play and have fun without being frustrated. Simple controls gave her an easy learning curve but after a few hours of playing, she was using the force to throw droid scums all over the place. Sure some levels are too difficult for her but then that's where my 12 year old jumps in and we all share in the excitement of the accomplishments. Some of the puzzles are quite challenging and well designed. The game uses multiple formats that are very basic on their own but in the end, it gave my kids a great exposure to different types of games and the freedom to loose themselves in a wonderful fantasy world. Is this a game for the ages...no, but was it extremely fun and rewarding to play YES! I think we all forget what Lego is and what it was for all of us growing up. Fun. That's it. These games were created for just that and in my opinion they succeeded. My kids now continue the Star Wars saga for the next generation and will forever remember the laughs we all had while playing. In the end, if you love Star Wars and want a next gen game to play with the kids, do yourself a favour and go out and buy it. Your entire family will love it.
