Classic game that still holds interest a decade after its release!

User Rating: 9.2 | LEGO Island PC
LEGO Island was the LEGO Group's first attempt at a video game, and they really outdid themselves!

In this game you can play as one of five different Island residents, each with his or her own special abilities. After choosing a person you can explore the Island constructed out of LEGO bricks in first person view. You can enter almost any building and find a different activity or mini-game in each one. The activities vary between delivering pizzas, building customizable LEGO vehicles which can be used for transportation afterwards, racing an Indy car, picking up injured Minifigs in an ambulance, and others. Each activity can be repeated by each character in a slightly different way, offering lots of replay value. Each different activity is also graded on how fast it was completed meaning 25 scores to achieve, and then a special "main" quest that is challenging at any age.

The other islanders that you meet start interesting conversations which are often quite humorous, usually involving the drawbacks of being a blocky, plastic character that can be disassembled and has only seven joints. The stylized graphics were pretty good for their time, especially for a children's game.

Music in this game is pleasant with great variety, and even a Juke-box for the best songs. The frequent cartoony sound effects are very suitable for this type of game and don't get annoying like in most other games.

Overall, this game is a classic. Don't expect hours and hours of gameplay time from it because of its age, but it still stands as a great choice to this day. Why else would the LEGO company re-release this title after a full decade if it wasn't?
