- The Bottom Line:
- "Amazing"
The good:improved puzzles and humor.great graphics.fun cooperative play. awesome new level creator and build your own adventure. hub worlds are great to explore.
The bad: constant framerate and screen tearing issues.some annoying glitches. still suffers from dumb ai partner and repetitive combat. some downsides to level creator.unlockable proccess is harder than it should be. the stories from the original feel abit rushed. the "that didnt hap 'n"giant monster fights.anoying vehicle parts
Lego indiana jones 2 is great. i needed to point that out after the previous lego game (the still good LEGO batman )
The second game focus on the kingdom of the crystal skull (which are split into 3 parts)and the original 3. This is great, plus add that with the secret levels that you find in levels and you get over 90 levels.
But things have changed. Each chapter has a hub world and though youll get lost alot, youll definitly enjoy the game. but there should be no need to have to scavenger hunt to find characters or unlockables where originally it was as simple as walking up to a store and buying something.
The unpointed out puzzles that haunted lego batman are gone. Puzzles are much simpler and now you wont be over runned by enemies when trying to solve a difficult puzzle. the only problem with the gameplay is the remaining problems of repetitive combat (which is prone to mashing on the x button, enemies go BOOM! do to another horde again, repeat)and your "still incredibly dumb" A.I. partner, who yet again isnt useful in fights.
Than theres the annoying vehicle parts (with the same annoying controls) that pop up in every episode that last for ever and end in relief in not having to do one of these until the next xhapter.
The humor is pure GOLD this time. While its dissapointing when indy jones 2 changes a joke from the original abit. indy succeds and never fail at making you burst out laughing.
But for some reason the first three chapters (the last crusade, temple of doom, and the other from the first ) feel rushed and confusing, and all of them at the end make you fight some giant beast (that wasnt even in a movie)
The level maker may not be as deep but youll have a fun time creating and experimating with a friend . the only downside is that in multiplayer you wont get such a good view and some issues with the screen (like the game ditching your equiped oblject or your build menu disapears from the screen)
But those are only minimal issues. theres a couple of annoying issues that could cripple your play time.once i ran into a glitch that caused me to not get the last treasure in the crystal skull part one (despite beating all the levels in it and the game clearly saying i had ten outa ten)then theres a crashing glitch that (from my experience) appears if you play for atleast 7 to 8 hours. and what about that bike glitch (this didnt happen to me but i heard it.) that keeps you from geting that super bonus level?
The graphics in indy jones 2 look almost none kid like. the environment is highly detailed and particle effects are top notch yet again. textures on character models are better detailed and has higher res textures. The same problems run through again, as the framerate still refuses to stay at 60 frames and screen tearing is really noticable.theres v synch there but not quite as useful (saints rows worked well)as it only makes the game run shorter.
But despite this, lego indy jones 2 is fantastic. i woould reccomend this to any lego fan or kid or adult who likes platformers . plus being under 20 dollars really make it a bang for your block! and thats gotta count for something right?

Lego Indiana Jones 2 is fun, but some critical changes to the formula hold the game back.

Lego Indiana Jones 2 is definitely the best game in the Lego series. Lots of fun, but not for everyone.
