Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues Impressions
Lego Indy's back, and this time, he's entering the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The original Lego Indiana Jones was a smash hit, and with the arrival of the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull last year, there's suddenly more material for a sequel. That's the thinking behind Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, which will also include material from the original film trilogy that didn't feature in the first game.
We got to see reproductions of both new and old films in our GamesCom demo today, both with the diner section from The Crystal Skull and the opening of the ark from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The latter cutscene was particularly memorable, as the Nazis were compelled to perform funky dance moves before disintegrating into thin air. In-game, Indy can now do more with his whip, such as tie enemies up and drag them around, as we saw in the diner fight scene.
Lego Indy 2 also has plenty of upgrades that will please fans of the Lego series. When two players drift apart, the screen now automatically splits in two, letting players do what they want before joining seamlessly together once they're close to each other. There's also a new level builder that allows you to put down boards and pieces just like you might have done with real Legos as a child. However, with this being a children's title, you probably won't be able to share these creations online, although LucasArts is currently looking into this possibility. At least you and a friend can both work on your design at the same time.
The hubs in Lego Indy 2 have also been expanded and improved, with three hubs from the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and three from the original trilogy. The hubs are themed around different areas in the films, and you can fly around in a plane, parachute out, and then jump into levels straight from these hubs.
Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues is looking almost finished, which is a good sign given how close we are to release. The game will be released on all major platforms in the third quarter of 2009.
just played a few level..humm my verdict for now the second installment not as funny as the first one..
Or they could make the tripe ultimate lego game: batman: the dark night, star wars the force unleashed and indiana jones and the kingdom of the cristal skull. Massive!
lego x men. On wii, the Z button could activate their "special powers"
This game could be great. I like them making Lego games after movies but I don't think they should make lego games after other games.
make lego space police
i think they should make lego agents
Lego Spider-Man?
na na.. lego gta lol
@Liamguy01 they are making a lego harry potter
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the lego games this one will be cool.
This game looks awesome. Other lego games that they should make - Lego Halo Lego Metal Gear Solid Lego Harry Potter etc. Sounds good, huh, too bad they aren't real, though....
Wife and kids are looking forward to this - especially the split screen bit. My wife gets frustrated with the kids when the won't follow her (although I'm sure the kids know what they are doing better than she does LOL). Think it'll be a must buy title :)
Lego Metal Gear would be so awesome
lego halo would be cool

Wow, cant wait
great.
Just got Lego batman and loving it, these lego games are uber coolness
Cool.
if theres so much content like the first one, its gonna be an awsome multiplayer game
if i do get this game i will wait for what they did to the star was game where they shoved them both onto one disc so then i dont have to pay for 2 games i get a 2 for 1 deal then :D.
Can't wait, I love these games!
Why couldn't they just have waited for the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to come out and then made a Lego Indiana Jone video game? I already bought, beat, and sold the first one for the PSP! There's is no way I'm going to buy it again just so I can play through Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and a couple of other new levels! What's the point of buying the game again if I've already played through 3/4 of it already?
Cool, I got bored of these games though..
Wow, cant wait. All previous lego game titles like STAR WARS and Batman as well as Indiana Jones were all really fun and addicting @ times.
This game looks awesome, I'll definitely be getting it, the LEGO games are so fun. AND Crystal Skull levels! That film has loads more action than the others, and would make a good game, people should cut it some slack and stop slagging it off. Personally I'd like to see a lego marvel game.
Cool, these lego games are so fun. Definetly putting in a few nice touches for this latest one. Myself, I'd kill to see a Lego Lord of the rings based of peter jacksons movies. That is just begging for a lego game iteration.
yeah splitting the screen when straying too far apart is awesome:)
I like how the screen will split but it will suck that you won't be able to share the levels you create on-line. I don't see how it should matter that it is a kids title though. Little Big Planet seems to be the same kind of target audience even though pretty much everyone loved LBP.
Brilliant!
"However, with this being a children's title, you probably won't be able to share these creations online..." I don't get this one. It is categorized by ESRB for "Everyone 10+" right? Not having an online sharing feature is a bad marketing decision I would say. Of course, one dastardly mind can make hideous and obscene levels using even digital Lego bricks and show these to unsuspecting children, but the game can always have a parental lock feature for the online portions.
That splitting the screen is gonna be a lifesaver for co-op. I hated sharing that screen, lol
not looking forward to this at all i hate lego games
The first one was just plain fun, I'll definitely give this one a look. Crystal Skull was pretty good, not as bad as everyone claims.
A new Lego Indiana Jones game. Sounds fun.
I liked Crystal Skull........
i can't believe there making this game the movie was crap and then adding the crap that wasn't good enough to be in the first game, what a rip off
