IGN gave this an 8.5. I will give it a try. This site gave Transformers WFC a 6.5 while IGN gave it a 9.5, and guess what? I totally agreed with IGN about WFC.

Tom puts on his blocky batsuit and dives into this review for Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
Something I don't understand, is why they couldn't just wait for a new lego series to make everyone start talking. In Lego Batman 1 communication was through grunts and giggles, and in Batman 2 everyone knows English...
"One button melee with quicktime prompts to counterattack. It takes little more than mindless mashing to come out on top. It's tedious and that monotony is taken to a new level in LOGO Batman 2."
Funny, when i was describing Arkham City to a friend, I nearly said that verbatim.
A 6.5?!! are u kidding me? lol am way above my teens and i still think this game is very enjoyable! u got puzzles, DC Super heroes, powers and Batman himself, great game all in all!! - 8/10.
This game is worth purchase. Very fun to play with tons of stuff to do! Great graphics and story line with lots of characters to play and vehicles to drive. Bought it for my nephew and tried it out only to find I did not want to give it to my nephew because I liked it so much. I give this a 10.
From my opinion, the Lego games should keep on exciting people cause they are still giving great effort.
Sounds like the game is meant for kids. You know, easy combat, instant respawns..
shit game if you ask me. I was excpecting something thats really good from 2012, this is not it. If you want to try a fun lego game for ps3, play lego indiana jones 2. that game is excellent even though it was made 2-3 years ago
I like the game. I play with my kids its one f the only things thry still want to do with me and for that I thank them. But I am lost. I can't find where to go to get to the differant levals and am stuck in the open forum.
Why would i get this when lego city and lego LOTR is coming out soon?
Seems like a waste of time but voice acting is a good thing since they haven't used that in 10 or maybe 11 yeears :/
I never liked the vehicle sections of the Lego games. I always find myself just trying to get through them as quickly as possible so I can get back to the normal game. They really need to stop detracting from the games by putting vehicle levels in them.
Being someone that played some of the original lego games, which were what, close to a decade ago, I can completely understand this game. It's a light kids game, but that doesn't mean you should keep the same thing and slapping new paint on it every year. I feel like pokemon games do this somewhat...
Anyways, good for you Tom, this was an honest review, don't see why lego games deserve 8's every time a new one comes out when they don't change anything
Bad AI. Doesn't matter if it's in a children's title or not, is inexcusable. I remembered this from the demo, and was like, "on no, this is not good as it takes away from the experience." I hope TT decides to make an update correcting this, or at the very least remedies this problem in future titles. Batman & Indie deserve better!
Thanks for this honest review!
With so many Lego games out by now there is no explanation why they haven't fixed some of the issues mentioned yet.
@Grisu77 It's Lego. I don't think the developers are taking this titles too seriousley.
@pable28 Kids games can be fun for adults too. At any rate, suppose it did get 8.5 at gamespot, suppose Lego Batman 3 DID have improved A.I, combat, open world execution etc, like lots of other good games (like Saints Row the third), would it deserve a 9 - 10? Nom it would be on par with Saints Row, and should then get an 8.5. You see, Despite it being a kids game, it could still be a really good kids game. And in the event that that happens, you need to give it room to breath, and not give every kids game above 8 scores. Though, in my opinion, this game probably deserved a 7, but that's my opinion.
I got your point, but considering the fact that they already sold multiple Lego titles, they should have the money background and knowledge to improve their products / the core engine. I'm an indie programmer myself. Adding a mini map isn't that much of a coding effort. - Better A.I., camera angles and multiplayer coop are much more difficult, but not out of reach for a bigger dev team. From the sales point of view you are 100% right. Sell it as long as users are willing to pay for it. They have another chance with LOTR.... *keeping fingers crossed*
@Grisu77 So did I. For what I see Tt games doesn't seem like a developer that puts all of it's effort in perfectioning their games, and they may be very pressured by warner to get the job done in time for them to care about complains form gamers and reviews. It's a shame really, because these lego games are much more interesting than people give them credit for. Correcting a buggy ai or adding a minimap can seem like an easy thing to do, but in this cases the time of release is the most important factor, at least for the company that founds these guys, and I don't think they get waaay better sales or reviews by fixing a few technical problems here and there.
Come on guys, you really didn't expect this game to get a 9 did you?Enjoy it for what it is, who care's what the score is
I haven't played a Lego game since Lego Indiana Jones and despite the negativity in this review, this review made me want to purchase the game because I can see how absolutely hilarious the cutscenes are!
Also, lol at the people getting so annoyed over a review.
Wow what the fuck is wrong with some people. You don't agree with the score and review. Therefore Tom Mc Shea should quit his job and commit suicide? Really? I don't agree with the review, but that's not a reason to wish death and misery upon on someone. That's not right douche bags. Big fail inter webs. (Rant Over.)
Tom is not one of my favs but he is right on the nose about this game. Its the worst Lego game yet. The controls are horrible, the voice acting is weak, the story is lame, and the levels are boring. I couldnt wait for this game and i sent it back to gamefly after a single weekend. The open world experiment was a good idea but without a map, i got bored randomly crashing into stuff with the terrible driving controls. Everything is just to convoluted. I ,personally, didnt think the game was funny either. They seemed to get lazy since the characters were able to talk. The jokes were much more creative when they had to express thoughts without words...
Oh and Superman being a douchey tool didnt help.
I thought it was going to include the other super heros more, too.
One thing that was sweet, was that first time you are controlling Superman in the open world and his movie theme music starts playing. That was epic.
Otherwise, this was not nearly as fun as the other Lego games. I look forward to Lego Lord of the Rings next year, to see if they can right the ship.
@Alecmrhand I can give you the rigth to say that this Lego Game have a lot of problems but dont say it isn't funny, dont say the voice acting are bad because actually are really good and make by the same voice ator's that give the voice to those character's, and please not fun as the other lego games?? Is your opinion and that's okay but make a better one

@mahrudbingo99 probably because most games nowadays are just lazy rehashes of games we already played without any gameplay improvements.
Every time there's a lower score than anticipated, people moan and groan. If every game is good, then none of them are. Tom gave a score, explained the score, and that's that.
Reading some of the comments, I respect Tom for actually reading and replying to some of the comments left on this review. He is only one reviewer. Best thing to do is read multiple reviews, play the game yourself, and them move on from there. Out of all the different communities, the gaming community is one of the most passionate I have ever seen, also one of the most vocal and unforgiving.
you know what other game has voice acting, Duke Nukem Forever, guess the reviewers should of looked past all its flaws and given it a 8.0 or how about Too Human it also has voice acting it deserves an 8.0. Who cares if it has voice acting woopty doo, the AI still sucks and the gameplay is the same as all the other lego games and its just getting old and tiring. And I have seen some of the same people here hating on COD for using the same formula over and over yet defending Lego for doing the exact same thing.
what a god awful review, i hope you change your act soon or get fired cause you suck! Where is the mention that it's the first lego game with ACTUAL voice acting?! You spent over 95% of this disgraceful video review complaining about it and focusing on the negatives of it, rather than giving it a fair review. While it may not be the perfect LEGO game, it deserves a fair review. I think 7.5 or 8, the lack of online hurts it and yes, the minimap for driving around would be really nice.
@JiGSaW918 I wonder what you mean by fair, as a 6.5 is "fair". an 8, is great. Do you think Lego Batman 2 is great? they churn out more and more of these games that are identical and I too would love a Batman Lego game that made good use of an open world and combat. I see potential here that was not achieve and am also dissapointed.

@jellyman08 And you're not very nice. Suppose you reviewed a game you loved but everyone else hated. Would you want people to call you names?
@Cptmcrofl Dude. Granted the video review does seem to focus too heavily on the negative aspects, but Im sure Tom will improve his voice work and video editing, but you cant deny the guy can write and articulate and I understand where hes coming from compared to IGN, where Im constantly baffled by their nnn-sensical fan-boysism and sometimes completely factually wrong statements. Just read their postal III review and you'll see.
I have played every Lego game from TT and this is by far the most fun. I like that Superman is an invincible bada$$. If you find it boring then play as someone else. I agree that it could use a minimap, but Gotham is amazing and exploring it from ground and sky is a pleasure.
i just got the game yesterday and played for a few hours, i have to say i do enjoy the game. the driving is very frustrating and the AI is pretty horrid, but all in all this is just a fun game to roam around collect things, and see all the characters you love. a 6.5 is a little low in my opinion, but i think a 7.5 or an 8 would have been better. its a Lego game.
...not surprised....saw tom, saw the score.....made this comment and closed the window....
@DITHRICH It's funny. I used to be like you until I played a game recommended to me personally by IGN who said there was NO FLAWS. Hated it, read Tom's review and agreed with him. shock horror! Ever since then Ive respected Tom's abiilty to articulate his point of view and why, unlike IGN.
"No way to fail." Are you FREAKING kidding me Tom? It's a LEGO game. There is NEVER a way to fail. I don't know why they even bother with a life bar other than for people who are really trying to get all the collections and achieving True Hero status. It's like he's just looking for reasons to bash this game.
this is a kids based game, it seems these days games are all about the graphics and total loss of the actual element of the game.
this isn't some uncharted experience. this is a basic game for young kids to play as their favourite dc superhero. the lego games were always a co-op based thats why the A.I was so stupid.
I think people are getting way into the idea of 10/10 experience and forgetting the idea of the game. its basic and mindless fun.
who cares if the driving element is a little faulty, or the A.I is stupid if its such a problem for people then don't purchase the game, obviously TT is doing well if they keep producing these LEGO games.
just some thoughts on gaming these days.
I am enjoying the game but I have no problem with this score. You pretty much just put your brain on auto-pilot and have fun trying to collect everything, because the combat is excruciatingly tedious. And yeah, TT has no excuse for such horrendous A.I. - they've been making these games since the last gen, and the A.I. is as bad as it's ever been.
