Spark's second game almost falls flat. Legendary is decent but not horrible.

User Rating: 5.5 | Legendary PS3
Fans of mythos can almost appreciate what Spark is going for; to appeal to more mature fans of mythological stories, but you'd be better off playing God of War. Legendary doesn't fall flat but it's not great, a lot of the mythology is incorrect but that doesn't make it a bad game; what IS bad about this game is the framerate and complete lack of respect for Unreal Engine 3. I like to keep an open mind that Spark is a new company and this is only their second game only a few months after Turning Point but they really should test their games more for what they can improve. A year delay, even, would have been appreciated just to make this game better.

Presentation: Flawed. The story has a great concept but the mythology is almost all wrong. It's fun to kill these creatures and utilize mythos of Pandora's Box but Pandora's Box is really a vase or an urn. I let the release of creatures slide because it's awesome though Pandora's Box really holds hope.

Graphics: This game looks better than Turning Point but only oh so slightly but its framerate is worse than Turning Point's. With more time put into it, this game could have had a lot more going for it in appearance.

Gameplay: As earlier mentioned, the framerate takes a dive and the difficulty spike is just insane, one minute you're kicking tail and the next you're getting served by nymphs or minotaurs. The best part -- hands down -- is the boss battle against the Kraken.

Sound: The soundtrack isn't bad and the sounds of a metal golem stomping around, nymphs laughing maniacally, minotaurs roaring, walls crashing down and the snarling, growling, and howling of werewolves is almost spot on.

Lasting Appeal: There's multiplayer but no one plays it. It's rather disappointing because the multiplayer actually had quite a bit going for it. The only reason to keep this game is for achievement, a frisbee, or a coaster.
