Left 4 Dead 2 User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 10 to 20 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "All it's cracked up to be"
The Good:
- Melee weapons are fun and deadly.
- New items, weapons, zombies and the new scavenge mode are all welcome.
- One of the greatest if not the greatest co-op experience out there.
The Bad:
- The friendly A.I still shows its natural problem, but strangely this time around it also presents problems on the zombies side as well.
- Like the first it can get repetitive from time to time.
- The fact that we had two pretty similar games in a one year time charged with full price its... lets say... a little painful.
The Time Of The Oath:
L4D2 brings back the zombie apocalypse seen in the first, but this time naturally with more content around.
Since L4D was a very fun game that unfortunately feels striped with few content, is not wrong to say that L4D2 is pretty much what the first should have been.
So what's new this time?
Well keep in mind first that the core gameplay remains the same from the first but now let's talk about what's new.
L4D2 has melee weapons, which are very fun to use and add some variety to the gameplay, it is be one of the greatest addictions to the series.
You can use a frying pan, a baseball bat, a katana and even a chainsaw to fight against the endless hordes of zombies.
Well and that is another think to consider, L4D2 feels much more challenging with bigger and longer hordes.
And this time we have some new special zombies as well.
We have the spitter which vomit loads of deadly acid into the scenario harming and blocking the survivors way.
We have the jockey, a very annoying guy that jumps on top of you and takes you for a "walk".
And the charger, which work pretty much as an american football player, he literally runs over you, then he grabs and slams you to the ground(all those zombies are playable in versus).
Oh and the great of all that this time we have the walking witch, that right, in levels taken in daytime the witch actually walks around crying.
Naturally there are new weapons and items as well, the defibrillator can revive downed survivors, the boomer bile can be thrown at some zombies to make the others attack them, an adrenaline shot give less health than a pill but gives a temporary speed boost.
Also we have new weapons, such as the grenade launcher, the AK-47 and etc...
Another cool thing is the laser sight upgrade and the explosive and incendiary ammo upgrade that can be found in the levels.
This time there is also the new scavenge mode, where survivors must find and take to the checkpoint cans of gasoline, while the zombies tries to stop them.
There are 16 cans in each level, after one team gather the max it cans for a limited time, the team changes and the players who were zombies now plays as survivors and tries to take more cans while the opposing team are the zombies now.
The only major problem i found in L4D2 was the A.I, when it comes to the survivors is better than the first but bad yet.
The real problem this time were the zombies actually.
While playing through campaign i saw boomers standing around without cover, chargers running for the wall and other problems.
The strange fact is that the first game didn't seemed to suffer from so many problem with the enemy A.I as the second.
So the time of the oath:
buying? it's painful due to the price, but if you are a fan of the first you shouldn't miss L4D2, is more fun and packed with more variety.
but yet just like the first the game still only works for co-op fans who intend to enjoy in lan or online, the single player is not the point here.

The strategy makes it fun and immersive at times, but for the most part it gets old and repetitive quickly.

The final standout in the Dead center campaign, all you have to do is to collect the 13 gas cansiters and make a run for the car, very doable even on Expert if you have people with decent shooting skill and stick together.Posted Aug 22, 2011

What was supposed to be a one-day project turned in to something that lasted over a week. I learned a lot about Gmod and Sony Vegas while working on this and gained new-found respect for Machinima makers.Posted May 19, 2008
