The sequal to the game that I spent well over 100 hours playing. Could this game be any more fun?

- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 100 or More Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Almost, but not quite"
GRAPHICS / PRESENTATION:
The biggest improvement in the game. Lots more shiny effects than the original, hard to describe but overall it looks like what a next gen game should look like.
Common infected will dismember when shot. Blow off an arm and they keep coming, blow a hole in their chest so that you can see their spine and ribbs from the front and they will still keep on coming. Love the increased emphasis on damage done to common infected, especially when you slice them up with melee weapon and see cut marks squirting blood.
GAMEPLAY:
With the exception of melee weapons, laser sights, the only occasional alternative ammunition, and some new sequences, largely unchanged. Similar rules apply. However with new special infected you cannot rely on old game plans. Spitter can spit acid at you feet, not a big deal if you can run out of it, but stay and damage rate will skyrocket and incap you. Charger can plow through team and pummel unlucky survivor with huge arm. Jockey, is unnecessary, not fun to use but a pain in the game.
Melee weapons spice up action, but you cannot avoid taking damage from infected. Chainsaw is especially effective against dense hordes, but will run out of gas quickly.
Alternative ammunition includes frag rounds and incendiary rounds, doesn't need much explaining. Grap a ammo pack and set it down and you will get only one clip a person of that ammo.
New sequences changes thing up and makes the game a little refreshing. Some involve opening a door to set off an alarm, instead of holding in a cornor you must fight your way to other side of room or map to turn off alarm or horde will keep on comming. In one finale, instead of holding off until rescue arrived, you must gather gas tanks and fuel up escape vehicle.
STORY:
Better than the original game. Instead of having campaigns that are somewhat unrelated, it is easy to see how the survovors end up to the beggining of each campaign from the last. Better character development.
VERDICT:
Instead of being a full game, this should have been a 30-40 dollar update to original Left 4 Dead. But with 2 new modes, scavenge and realism, there is alot more in this game. There will also be a very big update coming in 2010 for this game.
If you did not play the original game, BUY.
If you did, decide for yourself if it is worth $50.

The strategy makes it fun and immersive at times, but for the most part it gets old and repetitive quickly.

The final standout in the Dead center campaign, all you have to do is to collect the 13 gas cansiters and make a run for the car, very doable even on Expert if you have people with decent shooting skill and stick together.Posted Aug 22, 2011

What was supposed to be a one-day project turned in to something that lasted over a week. I learned a lot about Gmod and Sony Vegas while working on this and gained new-found respect for Machinima makers.Posted May 19, 2008
