League of Angels is a browser game of the "free to play, pay to win" (f2p/p2w) variety. What particularly sets it apart from many such games, are the extravagant amounts of money this takes: regular events reward premium items, but usually at an investment of over a hundred dollars, and even those boosts are not immediately game breaking. I do need to warn those who have trouble handling money: this game can become very addictive for such people, and I've seen many a player eventually quit after realizing they had spent thousands of dollars.

As a result, while someone with a lot of money can buy everything, very few will do so to an extent of becoming unbeatable; if you're lucky on your server (and a skilled, active player), even a free player may be able to rise high. At least within the server,

Most of the game is fairly simple. Battles are automated, and there is a large number of minigames, ranging from "Bejeweled" style to simple slot machines. Luck is a strong factor in many of these activities, but in many, skill does give you an edge. Some of these can be done automatically, but manual play tends to give better rewards. All in all, you can spend hours each day if you want to maximize your potential, so it is a good time waster.

In addition to this there are various daily events, and various larger events that span over several days. While many of the latter are oriented to the P2W players, everyone can get rewards, and many allow even a free player to save up over time for a better reward.

League of Angels has regular updates adding new features. Most are small, but nonetheless it keeps things a bit interesting, and allows an active new player to keep up with less active, older players. The flipside is that some bugs go unfixed for months, and updates regularly have major bugs that show they aren't tested properly.

The upgrading system is highly forgiving. Most upgrades carry over to new heroes or gear, or can be inherited, allowing players to experiment without major losses.

The endgame is somewhat meager in certain aspects such as available heroes, but the game allows quite a bit of customization through upgrades.

Story, graphics and music are all decent, though not spectacular. It's not a reason to play, but they aren't an eyesore.

Support is often lacking, Complaints regularly appear to receive automated responses, or none at all. As such it is advisable to be careful with payments, check the products you think of buying, and not to use automatic transactions.

Overall, it is a good time waster and a very decent game that you can play for free, without becoming mere cannon fodder. For me, that is the best way to play it, while accepting that I can't beat some players. The game is fun, but it isn't the quality of an A title, so I would not recommend spending more than just VIP membership. Don't raise your expectations too high, and this can be a fun game to play :)
