Largo Winch . // Commando SAR is a game based on the very unknown TV-series and the comic books by Jean Van Hamme and Phillipe Francq. No matter if you've seen the TV-series or not, this game is a total letdown that will make you regret every penny you've payed for it.

The story follows Largo Winch, a billionaire who, during the opening of his new chemical factory in Venezuela is taken hostage by armed terrorists. Largo has to get out from the warehouse in which he and a young journalist named Tania are being held and find out who was behind the attack.

The game plays like a sneaking game, and anyone who played similar games knows that enemy guards and surveillance cameras are your worst enemies. Largo Winch redefines this. Cameras and guards are truly your worst enemies as it is next to impossible to spot them before they spot you. This can be agonizingly annoying during levels where you have to stay out of sight from them. You can just be sneaking around, when all of a sudden you're told that the mission is failed only because you were seen by a guard or a camera that you didn't even know were there.

When attacked, Largo can defend himself against his foes by beating them down or by killing them using throwing knives or his gun. However, if you run out of ammo for either one of these weapons you have to rely entirely on fighting as there's no extra ammo to be found anywhere during the rest of the level. As if the game wasn't already broken, the fact that you can't collect extra ammo just makes it worse. Since you where able to pick up extra ammo in games relesed years before, this is a huge step backwards, almost heading towards the Atari days.

The control is also a major problem. Largo turns slower than a double-decker bus, making maneuvering really painful, especially during a fight with many people involved. Also, the jumping is delayed by almost a second leaving you confused when to press the button. This usually results in Largo falling down in water or down from a rooftop. Also, since he's a millionaire, shouldn't he at least be able to swim?

What could have saved this game from being as terrible as it is would be the music and the graphics. Unfortunately, they tend to be even worse then the game itself. The music is really repetitive and annoying as it drills into your skull, giving you a terrible headache to go along with your eyes getting blood-red from the grainy graphics.

It's shocking to find out that games released only six years ago can be this terrible, but this game is proof for that. It seems like Ubi Soft should have scrapped the whole sneaking-game thing and made a third person shooter instead, and of course with ammo that you are able to pick up!
