I never felt compelled to finish it, though I did eventually. It's very linear and can get boring or repetitive.

You play as Cole Phelps, former War hero fresh out of WWII. You are a street cop to start the game, but Phelps has a serious problem of over-achieving. As you progress through the game you get promoted to Desks such as Arson, Homicide, Vice etc. The cases are appealing and well thought out and the game is very unique.

Graphics: These graphics are amazing. Faces look very real due to the technology used and the expressions are life-like. The environments are lively and the pedestrians don't seem too robotic. The cars look great. All in all this is just a beautiful game, sometimes items you examine may seem bland at times this is possibly the nicest looking game to date.

Gameplay: This game may seem like Grand Theft Auto set in the 1940's but its far from it. Since you are a cop you are not allowed to hurt civilians and destroying city property is highly discouraged. In fact you cant even draw your gun unless the game permits it in its shootouts or chases.Seems realistic but it tends to make the game somewhat dull or bland. Driving around the city is just boring unless you do the side missions, which by the way, are out of the way from where you have to go to progress the story.

Driving seems fine and all but the problem I have is that you cant drive through chain link fences or some obstacles that a car would easily pass through. If you play any other sandbox game with driving you know that a wooden fence is doomed if you're driving through it at a high speed. In this game however, a mere fence can completely stop the momentum of your car in its tracks. This doesn't break the game but it's a minor inconvenience. When chasing enemies your partner encourages you to use a pit maneuver, but I find it hard to do because I believe the chases are scripted to end where the game decides to end them.

As you play the game you will search for clues. This however is too easy. Nothing obvious, its just that the game vibrates the controller or cues that there is a clue with little music notes. This is cool at first but it eventually gets boring just walking around waiting for the controller to vibrate so you can examine a clue.

Interrogation is this games shining diamond. The faces look so real that deciphering whether or not a person is lying comes down to looking at their face, noticing a slight twitch, wondering eyes, or anything else that would lead you to believe they are lying. This is great at first but then it eventually gets insanely hard to tell. Most times later in the game a persons faces doesn't even seem to change at all throughout an interview. During an interrogation, you can use evidence found to get confessions from a suspect.

During the game you will be in gunfights. This is pretty much standard or similar to Grand Theft Auto's gun-play. You can take cover and pick up a dead foe's weapon, nothing revolutionary here, and there doesn't have to be.

You will also have to fight hand to hand in this game as well. This too is very standard, you can dodge, punch and grab an enemy. Once again nothing new or revolutionary here, which works well anyway.

As you play the game you earn points and rankings called "intuition" what this is, is basically "ask the community", "eliminate a wrong answer" or "reveal all clues". This is earned after each action you perform. Since these points are easily earned they can make this game too easy, you can use it so many times if you just let it build up that anything you find tough will be done with these intuition points.

Presentation: The presentation is done very well, the look, the feel, the music, and the people all feel like it's the 1940's.

All in all it's a great game, but it gets a little repetitive and boring over time. I took a long time to beat it because there were week long stretches or longer where I didn't feel like playing the game. I loved it at first and it was appealing, but over time I played it less and less. I just now beat it today in fact. If you like problem solving and detective work this game is for you, but if you expect a GTA clone stay away from this game. From where I stand this game has little replay value and the sandbox element isn't there because free roaming is pretty much pointless. I know you're a cop so you cant be reckless, but that is what ruins the "sandbox" element. there isn't much to explore other than landmarks. Don't get me wrong, I like the game, it's great but it's missing something that could make it amazing.
