It's a nice game, but it lacks a lot of atmosphere.

This game gets how peoples nerves are shown on their own faces like an open book.
What this game does not get, is the atmosphere.

Driving for instance, just the feel of the driving could mean the difference between drawing me in to the world of the 40's and between making me feel like it's just another errand to go from place to place (should have used the mechanics like in "Mafia 2" at the very least).

The characters are a little too forgettable, everything is moving too fast and not enough time to digest, that's atmosphere again.

Maybe it's just me.

But I see a lot of potential in this game, and it is yet to be realized.

What else can I say about this game?
:/
I'm no actor or director, but I find the acting to be pretty good (which includes both animation and voice over).

The gameplay mechanics are pretty cool, you get yourself a handbook which you basically do all of the investigations through it, and you can always use your mouse to either enter further into something or back off and quit something.

That's pretty much it, it's a shame I can't seem to find anything else to say about it... which just brings me back to my original point which is the lack of great atmosphere.

You see, the problem with "Mafia II" is that the story is in parts that don't tie up together very well, unlike "Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven", but both have great great atmosphere.
On the other hand, in L.A. NOIRE, the story is great and it there, but it lacks the atmosphere to make it a complete whole masterpiece.
