One of the better movie tie-ins that doesn't get boring, and has some genuinely funny moments.

For a movie tie in, it's a pretty decent game – I don't normally play movie games as they generally suck but this came as part of the Lego Indiana Jones bundle so I thought I'd give it a go. The graphics are fairly decent and are very colourful, not bad considering it's only really a game for young kids who aren't fussed by the graphics' quality. Having Jack Black is also a big plus point, he adds some humour into the game. The film was pretty bad as it just didn't press any buttons for me but the game actually appears to be better. The combat is fairly basic, the enemies are not too troubling, and the objectives are fairly generic. This is great for a bit of mindless gaming though and is just what I needed.

For a movie game that could/should have so many things wrong with it, the only major flaw is the achievement scoring. Unlike most games, completing a level on a harder setting doesn't unlock the achievement for a lower difficulty. That means I had to complete the game on medium and hard just to get both achievements for the same thing.

I got really stuck on mission 11 on the hardest difficulty because you have to play as a different character that's pretty weak. Up until then I had been going through doing each level on hard and then medium but after I got stuck there, I just went through and finished it on medium. I came back to the other level a couple of times and just couldn't do it. I gave it one last try and I figured out the right technique to beating the tougher enemies and it actually became pretty easy! As predicted, I knew the two levels after that would be a piece of cake once I got back to playing as Po the game is so simple.

So I've completed the game twice and for a kids' game I actually didn't get bored. As with all platformer/repetitive fighting games, there were obviously some frustrating sections but definitely not as many as I've seen in other games. Overall it was a decent enough game for a freebie and if I'm being honest - I played the game for a longer period of time and enjoyed it more, than the supposedly great Gears of War.
