A Quirky Video Game That Doesn't Last As Long As It Should.

User Rating: 8 | Kung-Fu Heroes NES

As I have learned from my long history as a video game player, genres of video games can come in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. This is a beat-them up video game, that has you playing as a Kung Fu Martial Arts hero, who theoretically has to fight through eight levels, each with four stages, worth of villains, either by punching them, using a sword, performing a special flip which can destroy some of the tougher enemies, or gain a temporary power-up which allows you to temporarily throw fireballs. While the graphics, sound, control, and challenge are pretty decent enough (and the music even plays an eight-bit musical version of "Wipe Out" on some stages); the problem is that it's possible to find hidden bonus areas within some of the stages, and some of them are warps, which allow you to completely bypass HUGE chunks of the game, making the video game experience not last as long as it should. It's still an interesting game though, so I recommend playing it, especially if you have the game through the Nintendo Switch Online Service. Enough said, true believers!
