Informative and well done review. Thanks for saving me the money I was thinking about spending on this one.

Implants and boosters can't help post apocalyptic Sweden rise from the ashes in this video review for Krater.
What the... This game actually looks nice. There was a time when I actually agreed with Gamespot on rewiews. Now I facepalm when I see complains about "no fast travel" and having to craft your own stuff
A heck alot better then a 5! Thats just crazy, i cant say i completed the game so my review wont be out yet, but its a good game and so far (maybe 50% completed) its a solid 7.5-8. Its a cheap game so buy it or dowload it, which way is up to you but either way its worth it.
seemed interesting, but its horribly executed :(I've been waiting for some other joyfull strategy rpg like ToEE but i guess no engine beats old D&D wether its turnbased or real time u.u
@flikourai It's called Stealing Horses, by a singer named Karl Buhre. Great song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZbYIuZNW1I
It's not a perfect game but still it's a lot better then most of recent games. Its kind of comparing ideal cooked fast food with not so good cooked exclusive and delicius dish. So Krater is that kind of dish. I don't care about this review.
it may not be a very deep tactic game, but its fun to play! been playing it for a while and I like it :)
what in the world made them want to make a crappy ad that lasts like a minute where ugly people are dancing badly?
The criticism against this game can be used against most action-RPG's. And not once was the humour mentioned. Maybe you have to be Swedish to get the jokes...
"Most of what you loot is only good for selling" lol isn't that the story of RPG's
Carolyn is by far one of the better reviewers on this site, her reviews are insightful on all aspects and they are a joy to listen to because she writes beautifully.
this squad based crap is just awful, i dont wanna have to micro manage a tank healer and dps...
I had my eye on this game but the lack of skills and the leveling system is just horrible. I won't even try the demo.
Oh yeah, the leveling system just killed any interest in this game, never mind the fact that I don't game on PC.
Camera not moving with your characters andrunning only on crap w7, thats killing game, even then its much better then d3
@666NightsInHell If you means Windows 7 you're wrong. It runs on more than Win7 and Win7 isn't bad at all.
Yeah cause in Diablo 3 you never get any loot that's only meant for selling.....o wait...yes it does....even the harder mobs hardly drop useable stuff.
Krater is a Indie game, sure it has its flaws. But you don't pay 60 euro for it either. You pay 14 euro for it (guess that's 20 dollars or so?). Do you really expect it to be like its competition made by a big studio who has millions to spend on it and charges 60 euro's for it?
Yes indie games do set foot on the big boys market. But you still should keep in mind they are made with a much smaller team, with a lesser budget. There for it should be judged in such a way. Diablo 3 had many many problems at the start and still scored great, while they had no excuse what so ever for that poor performance at the start with a multi million budget and a team over 200 veteran game designers.
Krater has its flaws but the MP will be added later this summer as you could read on their website.
For a cheap game i would say it does a great job compared to the "better" action rpg's. I would love to hear with what these other better action rpg's are btw. Just so we can compare as well.
@dutchgamer83 Dude just save it...believe me no one will actually change their mind if they read your comment unless they had the same thoughts as you do
You're not the first one to try this and change people's perception on gaming...just saying it's a waste of time especially on the comment section of just 1 gaming website
Oh and 1 advice...the MP reason you gave there is bad....if you think it harder you'll see that D3 isn't at it's full potential in MP and the PVP arenas are on it's way...just my opinion...plus some random MP won't change people's minds when it comes to an indie game
Anyway just to make some things clear...gaming's a matter of opinion....while your opinion is that D3 has poor performance , at least 5 million people disagree with you and maybe the only complaint for D3 it would be the lenght
While in your opinion KRATER is a well made in at least 75% of the people that watched it's review it's crap...
So basically your trying to change the opinions of some strangers on the internet that don't give a crap of what you've got to say
It's never gonna work...the people that liked your comment are people that think the same way you do....not people that you've succeeded in changing their minds
@Darnasian Euh i never said D3 was crap. I just comment on something the reviewer said. She said that a lot of loot is only meant for selling. The same goes for D3. Thats all i said.
I think you read it all wrong. Wasn't b*tching down D3 at all. Just find it ironic how its a flaw in a indie game but not a flaw in a huge studio made game. And the only thing i said was that the MP is added to Krater, again wasn't b*tching down D3 on that.
Also im not trying to tell people that Krater is a better game. I just think GS is way to hard on a indie game for making flaws even the big boys make but not counting them as a problem for the big boys. Something today's game press does a lot on all kind of websites. its a problem for the unknow title, its not a problem for the big boys title.
Edit: Basicly what i said was that they should have more fair rating. Not saying Krater is the better game. Just saying that flaws should be a flaw for every game in the genre or not at all. If D3 gets away with the insane worthless loot drops than so should Krater, or both should be punished for it. D3 is patching up, but who says Krater won't? Krater has a small team, anyone should know that it takes longer to patch things up, correct them when you only have a handfull of people with limited resources instead of having 200 man to work on it with a multi million budget and all the latest stuff to work with.
Guys dont be silly, you should still try this game if you were looking forward to it. Dont let GS reviews ever put you off. They always get it wrong. I always ignore their score and most of their complaints (which usually amount to, " we think the game is buggy") , , and just watch the video, and judge for myself if i like the "look" of the game or not. if i only played games GS told me to play i would have missed out on countless gems.
@amar1234 Why bother coming to Gamespot if you always ignore the scores? You could easily find videos and the opinions of others elsewhere.
Note that Gamespot displays Metacritic scores on the pages so you can see just how off their score is.
Compare Gamespots 5.0 to the 52 on Metacritic at time of posting this and I would say that Gamespot nailed it when you average the 20 other publications.
Now that being said there are still many games i have enjoyed that had low scores, but that doesn't mean they didn't deserve low scores still.
Play what you want to play, no one is telling you not to, only advising to help gamers spend their money wisely.
@amar1234 I do look at the minor points GS gives, but i always compare them with what other review sites say and most importantly, what players of the game say. Scores on GS hardly tell a thing, many games get low scores for certain complainants about the enemy AI or some bugs where other big titles with the same poor AI and the same bugs or even worse bugs get a big score.
But its always good to compare and sometimes GS has a very good point about certain minor things. But at the end of the day its all about can you live with those minor points. Fallout New Vegas had many bugs (although i have to admit i never ran into any on the pc) but reviewers still gave it a good score and the players where hyped about the game. Just depends on you and how immersed you get with the game to either mind or don't mind the bugs.
@dutchgamer83 So in your opinion AI bugs and world glitches are just some "certain minor things"...are we talking about the same category of bugs that gaming is notorious for?
Anyway just wanted to say that if someone doesn't give a crap about this game you simply cannot change it's mind through a lame comment on GS (not trying to insult you here)
Do you really think people will start to trust some stranger on the internet with their money and purchase a game that they probably still won't like?...just saying...
BTW the game looks nice but while in your opinion the game is great in other probably 75% of this website audience is crap and you can't do a thing to change it
Dang! I was hopeful for this game. I guess screenshots can only show so much about the game.
Such a shame that a game of many potentials would just be wasted. I loved the game's graphics, the post-apocalyptic vibe, and the premise. But this game just makes everyone's life a chore.
When you talked about the implants, it reminded me of the augmentations from the first Deus Ex. You actually needed to go to a clinic to put that on, and I found that to be very immersive, rather than the usual skill tree. Well, maybe I'll only find out if I play Krater. But the rote combat, I must agree with you; since the first gameplay trailer I saw, I've noticed a lack of tactics, even with three playable characters.
