Knights of Legend Revisited...

User Rating: 8.5 | Knights of Legend C64
I never expected to find this game again, recently I was able to download a copy of this game and it brought back a ton of memories. With 4 races and 39 character classes to pick from, this game is definitely one of the best RPGs I've played during my childhood and now I am very in to it again. This game is probably not for everyone but if you are someone who is into detail specially when it comes to combat, you will enjoy this game. You can have up to 6 members in your party from four different races, humans, elves, dwarves and kelden (a race with bat-like leather wings). The combat system involves alot of aspects such as encumberance, pinpointing the area of the body you want to strike, type of melee attack and type of defense. Getting injured will also drain your stamina as the battle wears on. Experience points known as adventure points here in the game is used up to train in weapon proficiency in offense or defense, they can also be used to modify spells. The battle system has a tactical feel to it, depending on where wou station your members, you can lead enemies into an ambush. Fleeing from battle without sheathing your weapon may result in losing the weapon, plus getting defeated in combat may get you looted. Overall there are 24 quests in the game, and some I would vouch are definitely really hard to finish, but the rewards per quest are usually good. There are 2 ways to finish quests, one is to clear the area of enemies, the other is to find the quest item and run away. It's amazing that a classic game like this still has so much "UMPH!!!" factor in it. If you are an RPG buff, definitely try this game out, it's still fairly available for download in different classic game sites... It's a shame no expansions were ever released, but clearly the game was made to have expnasions (5 in fact), but alas sales figures did not impress the higher ups during it's days. Perhaps people weren't really ready for a game this complicated in 1989... Over all rating 8.5 out of 10... :)
