This game reminds me why I love video games!

When I saw the E3 videos for Epic Yarn, I couldn't help but be apprehensive. I very much like platforming games, but its been awhile since I played a Kirby game that I really enjoyed. It's the same concept over and over again, what with the sucking of enemies, copying abilities, and then spitting them back out. I love Kirby, in fact one of my first games was Kirby's Dreamland for the original Game Boy. I didn't want to spend $50 on a game I was afraid would let me down, but I gave Epic Yarn a chance.........it did not disappoint.

The obvious difference between this and other entries in the series is the graphics. The game oozes with original level design and vibrant colors. It's like someone put a grenade into a sewing kit box and let it go.

The music is simply marvelous, perhaps one of the best ever featured in a Nintendo game. the use of piano to convey a child like atmosphere only serves to immerse you in an otherwise inviting world. Like GameSpot said, its hard not to have a smile on your face while playing this game.

Not only does Epic Yarn look and sound great, but plays terrificly. Kirby being made out of yarn allows the developers to put their imagination to the test. Kirby can transform into many shapes/forms as well as manipulate the environment around him. I thought I've seen everything video games had to offer, but this game just proved otherwise. The game is hard enough to put down as it is, but to make it even more addicting you can collect several different items throughout the game. Kirby has his own house which he can buy furniture/patterns to customize with. I know that doesn't sound like anything amazing, but once you get into the game you will understand how much enjoyment you can get from something so mundane.

Bottom line, Kirby: Epic Yarn is a must play for anybody who has access to a Wii. Yeah its not revolutionary and a little too easy for most people's taste. But it takes a winning formula and does it even better than most other games out there. This game revitalized that inner child in me that woke up every morning in the 3rd grade just to collect all 120 stars in Super Mario 64. In a way, it brought me back to video games. Great job Nintendo!!!
