It ain't Superstar, but its a great game on it's own merits.

When most people think of Kirby they think of his best game Kirby's Superstar, it's one of the best game on the Snes and one of the best games in the history of gaming. it did everything right and everyone loves it. In fact it's one of those games that have the Ocarina of Time syndrome, and your probably wondering what I mean by that. As i Mentioned in my Ocarina of Time Review I Love Ocarina of Time and I would say it's one of my favorite games ever, but I feel that it's a bit overated, don't get me wrong it deserves great praise like I said this game is a flawless game, but people seem to be stuck in the past and whenever the next game in the series comes out, it doesn't match up to the other game simply because I feel people get too stuck to the original due to nostalgia, and don't honestly look at these other games in the series with a fairness. Now I know what your thinking, what does this have to do with KDL3? especially cause I gave Superstar a 9.5 and KDL3 an 8.5. That's a valid Question, the reason I am saying this is because when Superstar came out on the Snes everybody loved it and I loved it and thought it was fantastic, and later on when KDL3 came out people got it but most people don't really even remember this game, and that's disappointing. I wouldn't say this game is better that Superstar, but it's a great Kirby game, and most people don't give it the praise it deserves, and I could see why for some people cause it is very different compared to Superstar, but I think this game deserves a second chance cause this is a really great game that deserves more praise.
Story: The story is pretty simple. Kirby and his friend Gooey are on a fishing trip, when all of a sudden a sort of dark matter appears and shatters the planets rings. it posses people from Dreamland, including King DeDeDe, and Kirby and some new friends team up to save Dreamland.

Presentation: The presentation in this game is unbelievable. Superstar gets praised for its great graphics and sound, but while I love Superstars presentation I have to say DL3 has even better music and graphics. The graphics throughout each level look absolutely beautiful and everything is nice to look at. The music, oh my God the music, I'm going on record to say that this is probably one of my favorite soundtracks in a video game! it's mindblowing! not only does the game take you on a journey but the music itself does also, one big thing I think developers now a days forget to do. When it comes to presentation their is no question that KDL3 is a 10 out of 10.

Gameplay: This may turn a lot of Kirby fans off, especially those that love Superstar. Their aren't a whole lot of power ups in this one, instead the power ups themselves change into new attacks when you use your animal friends a huge part of the gameplay, they show up in every level, you can use them or you don't have too it's up too you but for me I really enjoyed using them and they all had really cool abilities I felt that they are a great addition to the formula of Kirby and all are really fun too play as. The levels in these games are fun, but to be honest they are way too easy, sometimes this game can feel boring due to this, but some of the levels are just really memorable though, it's not all about the actual gameplay aspect but looking at the beautiful landscape around you. The boss battles in this game are pretty damn good also, nothing too out of the ordinary but their are some memorable boss battles in this one. Their isn't a whole lot to say about the gameplay but it's an enjoyable experience through most of the game and I really liked it.

(Spoiler Alert)
Whats believed to be the final boss is King DeDeDe and he is simple, the easiest boss in the game and this honestly left a bad taste in my mouth, but then I figured out that he is not the final boss, you must collect all the Heart Stars to create the Love Love Stick and defeat Dark Matter with it, it's an enjoyable boss battle and can be quite challenging. The endings nothing too out of the ordinary, but you get a great song and credits, and that's good enough for me on the Snes.

Overall I do think Superstar is better, but KDL3 is a memorable Kirby game and deserves more praise, nobody ever thinks of this game when they think of the series and that's a shame cause this is a hidden gem in the series if you ask me. If you are a kirby fan give this game a shot, I think it's worth playing.
