Kirby's Dreamland 2 is a guilty pleasure that you will not want to avoid! Far better than the original!

User Rating: 7.5 | Hoshi no Kirby 2 GB
Game: Kirby's Dreamland 2
Genre: Adventure
Developer: Nintendo
System: Game Boy (GB)
Total Score: 76/100
Value Score: 7.6/10

• Story: 5/10
o The storyline improved with Kirby's Dreamland 2 but once again featured no explanation on what happened or why Kirby is going off in different planet like figurines in space. You'll be going through a whole set of different worlds with different environments until you fight King Dedede in the end and ultimately encountering the true source of evil that is plaguing dreamland.

• Characters: 7/10
o Pretty much all of the characters from the first game make a comeback but this time you are introduced with a new set of characters , animal partners who will help you however no back story for them is ever included unless you have the original instructional booklet. New enemy designs and new bosses are also included along with a few minor tweaks to appearances of old bosses. Nothing special though is included in this installation, almost the same as the last nothing worth mentioning expect for the main villain.

• GamePlay: 9/10
o Gameplay has heavily improved since the last, as the movement feel is a lot more smoother than the first game, Dreamland 2 also features the ability to suck up enemies and use their powers to your advantage along with the partnering with animal buddies to increase your arsenal of skills with certain powers. The animal buddies not only give you additional power usage but additional life and also brings a whole new level of gameplay when playing with them. Nintendo managed to beef up the difficulty and the content in the game as well, which makes this game way more worth it than the first, however some of the initial gameplay mistakes of the first game come back to this game such as knock back mechanics but one can say that could be seen as a difficulty feature the overall series.

• Graphics: 7/10
o Kirby's Dreamland 2 did not feature much of a improvement with the visuals, however the detail in some environments and the background of the stages are a bit more appealing than in the first game, the overall leap isnt as great.

• Sound: 7/10
o Kirby's Dreamland 2's sound improvement is the same as its visuals, virtually few to none changes, there are a few new additions to the sound effects to some attacks and such but nothing worth mentioning.

• Music: 10/10
o The music score for Kirby's Dreamland 2 has improved a lot more than what we heard in the first game, some of the tracks from the first game do appear but there are far more tracks and more variety of tracks appearing in the sequel.

• Length: 6/10
o The length was a major flaw in the first game as it took only less than 30 minutes to finish the first game, however the sequel may take you a bit more as there are about 7 worlds with about 3 stages minimum in the earlier worlds while up to 7 in the last. Far more stages exist in this game, one can say it is 10 times the original's however some stages are just filler stages that are short, but will more than likely take you no more than 5 hours especially with the search for Rainbow discs.

• Replay Value: 5/10
o The replay value in this game similar to the first as you can play a more difficult version of the game, the only reason why the score is higher is because of the game's length plays a role in the replay value as you have a more variety of levels to play off.

• Player Value: 10/10
o Kirby's Dreamland 2 is a huge improvement in terms of gameplay over the original, however some aspects such as sound and graphics arent appealing as other games but it's understandable due to the physical limitations of the GameBoy. The story has fairly improved despite with minor plot holes and such , the amount of characters have increased but the length has fairly improved as well. This game is considered to be one of the best Kirby games and it is worth not only playing but collecting as well!
