A perfect mix

Its seems very strange that Squaresoft and Disney would make an action RPG together. It seems even more so that the game they created, Kingdom hearts, is a huge, sucessful game that does a perfect job of immersing you into the world of Disney. In the game you play as a 14 year old named Sora who is searching for his friends after the darkness (the evil in the game) destroy your peaceful island. The game starts off slow, making you complete some objectives you don't really want to do, and collecting some crap. But once you get past all that the game really does a good job of getting you into the it's story. You'll soon get your 2 CPU controlled characters into your party and start exploring the different Disney worlds based on their classic films such as Alice in wonderland, Hercules, and Nightmare before Christmas all while meeting unique Disney characters characters and even some Final Fantasy cameos. Most of these worlds have there own story arcs and quests, some of the worlds will definitely seem better then others. The sound is good enough not to annoy you or interfere with the game but it could have been a bit better. The voice acting is surprisingly good and sounds rather close to movie quality. For some reason the only voice actors that were bad were the FF7 characters. The graphics are also good for its time but some might find it a bit to cartoony. During intense battles with enemies filling the screen the frame rate rarely ever chugs. The game has a very nice and fluent fast pace combat system and you will gain new weapons and spells as you progress though out the game, using the magic in combat isn't crucial or anything though (other then healing or your wind spell) so at times it can feel like a complete button masher but if you don't mind some hack and slash moments it won't be as much a problem. The game is lengthy, around 30 to 40 hours to beat it and the story takes a nice change of pace near the end. A technical problem the game has is that the camera sometimes doesn't want to stay behind your character which can be annoying, the camera can be moved manually but it's still a pain. Other then these few problems the game is great, theres tons of things to do aside from the story. Kingdom Hearts is worth picking up if your fan of action RPGs.
