All I have to say is this one is possibly better than the first one.

User Rating: 8.7 | Kingdom Hearts II PS2
Pros: cool new enemies, more Final Fantasy characters, great voice acting, neat new battle commands, and Axel!
Cons: Mostly just button-mashing, a few unnecessary characters, had no idea what Tron was talking about.

Let’s just get this out of the way: Kingdom Hearts 2 is just as good if not better than the original game. In this one, you start off as Roxas. This is where there is basically nothing but cutscenes. The whole beginning with Roxas, however, seems to take around 4 hours. If you’re a Roxas fan, you’ll enjoy it, but if you want to get on with the story, you may find it annoying. As Roxas, you’ll meet some new enemies and friends. His story will take place in a place called Twilight Town. Sora fans, fear not, you will take control of him in this one because he is the main character of the story after all. Sora has definitely grown up a bit since the last game. He’s gone through puberty, he’s more confident, he’s just as nice, and he finally has a new outfit that doesn’t make him look like a clown. The good news is that the camera has been refined. You can even control the camera angle in this one. Also, are you ready for this, YOU CAN SKIP CUTSCENES. Definitely a good addition. Lots of people complained about the whole Gummi ship thing in the first one. Well, it’s still around but it’s been jazzed up a bit. It’s more like an old arcade game or something. This time around, Sora has some new moves. One addition to the battle system is the reaction command. You can hit the triangle button when it pops up on the screen to simply own your enemies. Believe me, you’re going to want to use the reaction command when you have a chance. Sora can also use something called the drive command to use special abilities in battle. Some drives allow you to wield two keyblades to cause more damage to an enemy. It’s just awesome. Drives basically allow Sora to specialize in strength, magic, or both. Another command that has been added is the limit command. Limits use up your whole magic meter, but it allows Sora and another party member to perform special attacks. Summons are back in this game. Sadly, a couple of them are kind of lame. ***Cough***Chicken Little and Stitch. If I may steel a line from Morgan Webb: “Not all Disney characters are created equal. No one cares about Chicken Little.” Most likely, you’ll be too busy using drives, limits, and the reaction command to even notice you have summons. No worries, you really won’t need them unless you want to use them. In this one, you’ll gain access to more and more new abilities as you gain levels. You can spend your action points to use abilities that unlock some sweet moves. You’ll also get items that can increase the AP of one of your characters. You’re probably going to end up using them all on Sora because he just has lots of new cool moves and you’ll probably want to use most of them. During you’re journey, you’ll enter the Space Paranoids world. You’ll meet Tron. All I have to say is good luck understanding what he’s talking about. Stupid Tron and his fancy technical terms. If you do understand him then it’s probably because you’re a geek. Other than Tron, you should be able to understand everyone. The story is a lot more interesting in this one. Oh, and don’t worry if you haven’t played Chain of Memories. I would recommend reading a little about what happened in Chain of Memories. After that, you should be fine. If you don’t read anything about Chain of Memories, you just may not understand what’s going on in the beginning with Sora. But, you should be able to follow the story anyway. Remember, this game takes place after the events in Chain of Memories.

You’re going to meet some new enemies in this game. They are a group called Organization XIII. These guys are just fun to fight. Some will annoy the crap out of you, so you’ll enjoy beating the hell out of them. You’ll encounter new foes called the Nobodies as well as the good old Heartless. Overall, this game has a good story, good characters (except Chicken Little), and interesting new worlds. The only world that kind of seems like it was just added in was Port Royal. It seems like it was added because people are obsessed with the movie. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun world and all, but it doesn’t seem like Sora has any point being there. Port Royal basically retells the story from Pirates of the Caribbean. A lot of the lines are the same as well. But, it was a pretty cool place to visit. It’s fun to beat up those bloody pirates. For gamers who like a good challenge, this game may be too easy for you; however, like I said before, it’s fun, so you may enjoy it. Let me tell you, fighting the Organization is a lot cooler than fighting Disney villains. But, of course, it is nice beating up Oogie Boogie. Oh yeah, Kairi actually does something in this game. Unfortunately, it’s not until the end. So, she’s a little cooler than she was in the first one. Well, that’s enough of that. Now then, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: if you have any questions feel free to ask me. If not, then I bid you adieu. I know I’m lame.
