Let me say this right off the bat. I did not play the previous kingdom hearts game so I dont really have a frame of reference or something to compare it to. That being said this game is absolutly phenominal.

It blends the squaresoft and disney worlds so well together. They did not disney up any square charactors nor squareify any of the disney characters. They each live in there own seperate universe and seem to mesh together perfectally. This is the best disney themed game I have ever played. Leave it to Square to do it eh?

First of all the story leaves you off where the first kingdom hearts ended. The story is suprisngly well crafted and meaningful considering they jammed all these disperate licenses together. Each world you visit has a meaning and a purpose. It is very rare that you feel that the story is trying to simply accomidate certian movies.

The animation is superb. Each character moves, sounds and acts like they do in there respective movies. Although not the most sophisticated graphics in the world each character is modeled to extremely well. They look exacally like there movie counterparts and really add alot in drawing you in. You have to wonder if they hired some disney animators and designers to work on this game.

There are also some sequences which look very un-final fantasyish. Which is great in this context. Many of the animated cutscenes appear to have 2d animation which really fits in well with the game worlds.

The gameplay is also well done. It reminds me quite a bit of god of war. Only you get summons and limit breaks. I honestly was only going to play this game for about 3 hours in the evening but I couldnt put it down. The next time I checked the clock it was 2:30 in the morning and only put it down because I had to function in the morning. It is very rare that this happens. In fact the only game I can remember having this effect on me was Grim Fandango.

Square was not content to ride on the licence of the game. They have really gone above and beyond what you would expect from a licenced game. The way these classic disney characters interact with you will put a smile on your face and sunshine in your heart. In fact I challenge anyone not to smile at least 10 times during this game.

My only minor quibble is this game has one of the longest introductory sequences ever. I have never played a game where you have to go through 4 hours of introduction to start playing the game :). Luckely this is still quite fun but you do get antsy to start seeing some disney characters after a while.

If you like disney, square or heck... any games for that matter pick this one up. I honestally cannot see how anyone wouldn't have a blast playing it.
