One of the high points in the Kingdom Hearts saga

User Rating: 8.5 | Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days DS
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is a remarkable achievement. It combines what made the Kingdom Hearts saga great, while adding a few of it's own twists. This is one DS game that should be in your collection.

Concept: Bring a PS2 Kingdom Hearts to the DS

Graphics: The in-game graphics are great, but the cutscenes are amazing.

Sound: The sound is terrific, the voice acting in the cutscenes is also very good.

Playability: For series veterans, the controls are easy to get into, for first-timers however, there might be a steep learning curve learning how to switch from attack to magic.

Entertainment: This game is fun the whole way through.

Reply Value: Moderately High because of the challenge missions and multiplayer.

Story: I am not going to tell you what the story is about due to spoilers to series veterans, but the story is very good.

Gameplay: This game consists of two elements, light platforming, and tons of combat. The platforming isn't really special. It's just jumping, and grabbing on a ledge, then later in the game you get the ability to glide. But the platforming is fun however, and you'll wish there was more platforming. This game is very heavy on combat, just like the other Kingdom Hearts games. The combat is also very good. You can do a ground combo and an air combo. Depending on the upgrades you put on your keyblade, your sword might be strictly to ground or air combos. The combat itself is engaging and fun. Just like in every other Kingdom Hearts game, you can lock on to your target, but locking on your target messes up the already bad camera. You hit the A button to do attacks, and if you hit the button some more times you perform a combo. Just like I said before, you can do these combos in air or on ground. At first it will feel like natural combat, but then you will notice that the combo system is very limited. But enough of that, you'll probably use air combos more often because they are fun and more effective against the enemy. The combat is hard to explain without showing you some of the gameplay, but I will tell you about limit breaks. Limit breaks are when your health goes down to the yellow portion. If you hold down the A button, you go into a rage mode sort of and basically murder the remaining enemies.
Thats all I have to say about the combat, let me talk to you about the panel system. It works like this, you put squares with abilities and put the squares in your empty ability panels. The system works out great.

Now let's separate the good and bad things

Good: Great graphics, amazing cutscenes, good platforming, amazing story, great combat, panel system is great, combat is great, great concept, good boss battles, great multiplayer, high replay value, challenge missions

Bad: Awful camera, combo system is limited, steep learning curve for first-timers, not too many platforming sequences

THE VERDICT:Buy this game!
