How do I navigate the maze in the merlin's legacy quest?

If you read the legend of sir brandon it tells you "he sailed west for 3 days north for 2 days and then 3 days in the direction of the setting sun"
when you 1st enter the maze the voice over also sails it feels like your sailing the sea's -
The guy above answered it mistakenly, should read:
3 times west
2 times north
3 times east
