Disastrous frame rate.

User Rating: 3 | Killzone PS2
Plain and simple I think that there should be no frame rate issues in any game, but when it comes to first person shooters is just not acceptable.

I picked up Killzone a few weeks ago cause I'm a big fan of FPS (and because I still don't have the money to get a PS3) and I understand this is an old game but the problems with it are too many to be able to enjoy it now and even then when there were not too many great FPS around. So, before buying the game I went to youtube and search for game play videos of Killzone and that was the first mistake I made because even by looking at the "high definition gameplay videos" found in youtube you can NOT see the main problem of the game, the horrible "headache inducing frame rate disaster". It looks like you're walking in slow motion even when he's running. When you stand still everything looks perfect but as soon as you start moving everything looks just like when you're playing a high graphics game in a windows 95 pc. It's just looks way crap compared to other FPS for the PS2. I've read good reviews of this game and people giving it a 10 or a 9 or a SUPERB, I don't know what they are talking about.

Another problem besides the frame rate issues is the "useless pointless and ridiculous aiming" system of the game, you could be pointing directly to the head of an enemy and the enemy being standing there without moving and you MISS, you have to shoot several times to hit anything, cause the bullets tend to hit everything near the target like in a circular motion and then like the 4th or 5th bullet hits the target and that makes you to shoot a lot (maybe given it a little bit of war feeling because all of the shooting but is worthless and annoying) and you also waste a lot of ammo and you find yourself too many times without ammo and having to run in open fire to dead bodies to retrieve their ammo.

And there's no killing anyone with one shot to the head, the only weapon that does that is the sniper rifle and even a bullet to a leg will do the trick (thats not real at all and with other guns you have to hit them too many times to take them down). Your allies get in your way too many times and sometimes they point their guns to the walls and stay there like dead mummies just standing there.

There's also this annoying "Diiiieeed" scream that you hear 100 times per level. And also the environments doesn't look real enough, they are well done, with trees and buildings and everything but that realistic look is not there, again, compared to other FPS shooters.

And what's the deal with having to press a button to climb up a stair or to jump over a small ledge, and when he jumps over he puts his gun awaaaay like for 3 seconds!!! What's up with that???

Anyways, I finished the game cause I wasn't gonna loose the 12 bucks I paid for it, but it gave me a headache every time I played it and it was a pain to play, nothing fun at all. So this game is bad, not good or great, is a bad game, bad game... and that's it.
